Parramatta salary cap breach update

Tue 07 Jul, 2015, 4:05pm
NRL.com

The NRL said today it has considered Parramatta's response to a salary cap breach notice issued last month and will proceed with a fine of $465,000.

The figure was reduced by $60,000 after the club clarified aspects of its NRL second tier player payments.

Other aspects of the initial breach penalty, including the possible deduction of competition points in the 2016 season, remain unchanged. The NRL will now work with the club on an independent review of its governance and organisational capability.

The NRL also advised today that it had reduced the penalty imposed on the Roosters for salary cap breaches last year from $41,292 to $25,000 after the club clarified the nature of education allowances made to the club's NYC Top 20.

The NRL will just take it out of the grant that they give us at the start of the year. We'll make that up easily because we're gonna win the comp next year.

NRL need the money to help the 4 clubs they are propping up. They want money from rich clubs like us. Just look at the ladder. Three of the four clubs are at the bottom of the ladder.

At the end of the day its our own fault. TBH not really worried about the fine but will be looking for bloody if we loose points next season.

An observation made earlier that the ex coach placed in a position of power may not turn out to be th saviour predicted. Jodeci and Jake Appear to know more than most

We are told that he is not someone that player managers like, does not necessarily follow instructions, and some of this took place well before BA was appointed coach in November 2013 as describd in the article

Since that person has also taken control of the jumior league, it has lurched into it's worse run state in memory, the CEO of the Parra Junior League has gone to the Penrith JRL and numerous volunteers have moved on

Interesting times indeed

One thing with the Hopoate situation going to court is that we will soon know exactly how much he was offered and more than likely know how much he will soon be paid.

One another note, you really have to wonder, given that the NRL knew that we were in breach of the salary cap for the entire 2014 season, whether or not had we beaten the Raiders in Round 26 of last season whether or not the NRL would have allowed us to play in the Finals. They would have looked pretty stupid letting a team play in the finals knowing that they had breached multiple salary caps.

So we had a rogue CEO AND a rogue football manager, but the board and chairman are still being criticism because they say hello to you on game day? Even though they appointed both?
