Any idea how far under the cap we were this year?
Also is it right that if you are under the cap by X amount you can pay X amount of a player/players contract this year to free funds up for the following year?

yep that is correct, and this is what I heard the sharks did with some of Noddy's Contract in 2002 when they were well under the cap.

Sign very good player to a long term contract ie 5 years, pay a large chunck of that contract early then pay less the following years freeing up room under the cap for more players.

Looking at this years results I'd say we are $3 million under the cap. But we would be giving out alot of Mcdonalds vouchers and 6 packs of VB.
