Now being an Englishman I obviously like to follow our English players playing in the NRL.

I have watched every game this year of Souths and people say he isn't the same player he once was and is no longer one of the top forwards but I thinks that's unfair and it's the rubbish he now has to play with what is bringing him down. Nearly every single game he has been the best player for Souths last year and again this year!

Honestly put him in a Storm, Sharks or Roosters team and he would be going close to topping the Dally M leader board!

Completely agree. Stand out in a badly outgunned team. Would walk into any teams pack.

Sam Burgess will lead England to World Cup victory if he plays second row.

England team should be:

Zak Hardaker/Sam Tomkins

Ryan Hall, Kallum Watkins, Michael Shenton, Jermaine McGilvary

George Williams
Gareth Widdop,

Sean O'Loughlin
Sam Burgess, Elliot Whitehead
Chris Hill, Josh Hodgson, James Graham

Interchange: Thomas Burgess, Alex Walmsley, Liam Farrell, James Roby.

He learnt some bad habits in Yawnion unfortunately...

When is that other famous Englishman Teo coming back to Souffs?

Was there any situation that Brett Hart couldn't turn into a great match?

On Sam Burgess, he's still easily alongside Lolo as the games premier forward. Perhaps his superior stamina and off loading make him better. They're neck and neck as the best.

I know he cops some shit but he plays the full game in the middle and puts in great performances every week.

Yes he has butter fingers moments but his strong carries, hard hitting D, off loading and try scoring threat more than make up for it.

It's a lot of fun hating Souffs but that shouldn't detract from the fact that Sammy B is one of the all time great forwards.

Yeah, Taumalolo has overtaken him but he's still in the Top 3 forwards in the comp. His combination of power and stamina is remarkable.

A lot of the negativity regarding Sam is around the Burgess name, his links to Crowe, defection to Rugby, the amount of publicity he gets, etc.

His defence and stamina keep him ahead of taumalolo for mine. His slightly down on his best but he's still playing damn good on a poor rabbits team.

Maguire looked like a lame duck in the coaches box last night. Alarm bells are ringing Willy.

I'm pretty sure Souths are committed to Maguire in terms of rebuilding. Remember Greg Inglis was injured for the season after the first game, not the easiest of circumstances to coach.

Melbourne/Smith would be a more accurate comparison in terms of the importance of said player to each team.
Maybe when Inglis touches the ball 5 times a set, has half a dozen kicks and makes upwards of 45 tackles a game.
Inglis can be a game breaker - although he hasn't really been so for the last couple of years - but is certainly not a game manager. I think the comparison to Bill is fair.
