Someone mentioned to me today that the Warriors have won every game this season that Tomkins has played.

I can't find any solid stats saying that anywhere...

Do you guys think it's true??

Yeah that's correct. Even one of the early games where he came off injured in the 1st half, we still went onto win. The streak continues.

Absolutely correct. I know RTS is a phenomenal player and for mine talent wise is an upgrade, but after the first month that he'd been in the NRL Sammy has become an absolute must have winner for the Warriors. He's a big loss in that sense. He might not get great stats, but boy he pops up at crucial times to link plays together.

Damn how good would it have been to have both, with Sam at #6? We'd tear oppositions to shreds... until the cap auditors came knocking ;)

Thats a good idea actually. Tompkins is looking more like a Lockyer type stand off in my imagination.

Lolohea on the bench as utility back/impact player..

Even though he's a bit of a hothead he seems to have the organisational skills required, coincidence or not lets hope the streak continues.

I'll go ahead and say the six games we've won were against bottom 8 sides we'd expect to beat with Lolo or even Paul Atkins at the back, but that's also not to say that we should all (even Oz) agree we're a much better side with Tomkins at No.1.

Well, he is a fullback... actually, a pretty handy one who seems to click with SJ...

The Storm are hardly a bottom 8 side, even if they're in a bit of a slip right now.

Watch him again during the Friend 'acrobat' try. His positional play, linking, and anticipation are brilliant. The opposition didn't know what Johnson was going to do, but Tomkins had a reasonable idea.

We'll miss the guy a lot. Shame he misses grey, rainy old Wigan more.

The coolest bit of that was not only did Tomkins have the smarts and awareness to double round and link like that but SJ had the confidence that he'd be there to collect a no-look pass. It shows that he's a great communicator and can build that kind of understanding and confidence in his teammates.

Yeah my bad, I meant to say that last week apart.

I think that's what Tomkins is best at, a communicator/link player. That's what we'll miss, if anything with RTS. RTS is hopefully a better defender, certainly a better broken field runner etc.

We're lucky his replacement is even better, signing RTS to allow Tomkins to go was a master stroke.

We've got Tomkins so we already know what he can do with us. RTS? All the signs are great, can't wait for him to come. However, I'm still a little cautious.

Can we wait till he's here and performing before we tell the world how awesome he'll be? (I know that's not what you're doing but it's a general attitude I'm picking up elsewhere).

The reason I'm not jumping around too much is the memory of Inu and Mateo, two other very gifted footballers who didn't quite make it with us.

If I was the Warriors god, and could make god-like decisions, I'd keep Tomkins.

^Tomkins wanted to go though, there was no point in forcing him to stay. Managing to get RTS at the same time as his departure was announced was the masterful but.

RTS isn't a Mateo or Inu. He is a consistent top class gun, not a flaky talent like both of them were known to be.

Funny thing is when Tomkins arrived much of the hype, as so far as i remember, was about his running game. His running game is okay only, but it is his vision and link play that makes him a standout. Timing, vision, and passing skills make him excellent and very complementary to our mire destructive runners. For some reason, rugby league does not produce 'ball players' such as this very much so when they are about, they are gold, especially for a slightly ad lib team like the warriors.

TVS is a different type of player, more individual than link, but he is that waesome, it will work out fine. Lolohea could develop into a tomkins kind of player potentially, he has sone of the basic visionary attributes, but would need to focus on this mire than his natural running game and use that running to be the link, setup guy, rather than runner per se.
