Well he may or may not be the greatest of all time but one thing for sure is that he now has a 4th world championship.
With his latest race victory at Hungary he sealed his 4th title and second in consession with Ferrari. Schumacher had the perfect weekend. The Ferrari was perfectly suited to the Hungary circuit and it resulted in a flying practice and qualifying session for Schumacher.
Michael took pole and right from the start look invincible as his team mate Barrichello edged out championship rival Coulthard in the first corner. Shuey steadily put the seconds between himself and the rest of the field and held a dominant lead in the first pit stop. Coulthard managed to get out in front of Barrichello after the McLaren put in a brilliant stop for the Scott.
The flying fin Hakkinen was living up to his nick name and putting pressure on the cars ahead of him, the disadvantaged BMW of Ralf Schumacher took the heat of the Fin but eventually held strong as Hakkinen had to take a late splash and dash.
All the action was taking place up front and as the second pits stops started the Ferrari of Michael Schumacher was the first of the leaders in. A mistake free stop conserved his lead and basically assured him of victory. The real action was to come.
Barrichello entered the pits and put in a solid stop but not enough to get him past Coulthard. The Scott came in a lap later and a problem with the fuel nosel saw the seconds tick by and the Ferrari of Barrichello creep round the circuit, Coulthard watch the Ferrari nip him at the edge of the pit exit and it was game set match for the Ferrari team.

It was emotional times for all involved on the podium, Schumacher was quite clearly overwhelmed and during the German national anthem the tears poured.
What a driver. Personally if feel today puts him down in history as the best. He is one championship away from tieing the record of 5, he already holds the record for most Ferrari wins, hes now tied for most race wins in history, hes the only driver to win 2 championships with 2 teams and the list goes on and on. He is the Tiger Woods of forumla 1. He is the best driver we will ever whitness. I love watching both him and Tiger woods, to know you are seeing 2 of the greatest athletes the sporting world has ever seen.

Congrats to Schumacher, lets that Ferrari flag fly high and proud.

Cheers

Schumacher = best F1 driver in the last 10 years.

His performance this season has been truly amazing. I haven't seen a driver like him in my relatively short lifetime and I praise him for his efforts.

And Dog-T, I'm not going to even dignify your post with a opposing response.

Best of all time? I aint no formula one expert, but I reckon that Schumacher isn't in the same class as Juan Manuel Fangio (Five times world champion), he's possibly now on a par with the likes of Jack Brabham, Jim Clark, Graham Hill, Jackie Stewart, Alain Prost and Ayrton Senna.

I've always been a hugefan of Ayrton Senna.
Not only was he a great driver and person, but the majority of his (huge)earnings during his career were donated to various charities and under-privalleged organizations around the world. His loss effected more people than many knew about, because he was not a person who publically advertised his 'good deeds.' Yet they all (rightfully) surfaced once he was tragically killed.
His remarkable record of 65 pole positions, is exactly that, and will most likely not be surpassed.
He was the greatest of all time .. in my opinion, on and off the race track.
Schumacher is a terrific driver, and his record isproof of that,as the posted chart shows, but I sense signs of arrogance on his behalf at times .. on and off the racing circuit.
I'm just voicing my opinion in regards to the thread title, not trying to upset anyone.
Cheers - Aaron C.

I would have to say that as the years go on, Schumacher's claim to the greatest title seems to get stronger and stronger. This year should be interesting.
