Well he may or may not be the greatest of all time but one thing for sure is that he now has a 4th world championship.
With his latest race victory at Hungary he sealed his 4th title and second in consession with Ferrari. Schumacher had the perfect weekend. The Ferrari was perfectly suited to the Hungary circuit and it resulted in a flying practice and qualifying session for Schumacher.
Michael took pole and right from the start look invincible as his team mate Barrichello edged out championship rival Coulthard in the first corner. Shuey steadily put the seconds between himself and the rest of the field and held a dominant lead in the first pit stop. Coulthard managed to get out in front of Barrichello after the McLaren put in a brilliant stop for the Scott.
The flying fin Hakkinen was living up to his nick name and putting pressure on the cars ahead of him, the disadvantaged BMW of Ralf Schumacher took the heat of the Fin but eventually held strong as Hakkinen had to take a late splash and dash.
All the action was taking place up front and as the second pits stops started the Ferrari of Michael Schumacher was the first of the leaders in. A mistake free stop conserved his lead and basically assured him of victory. The real action was to come.
Barrichello entered the pits and put in a solid stop but not enough to get him past Coulthard. The Scott came in a lap later and a problem with the fuel nosel saw the seconds tick by and the Ferrari of Barrichello creep round the circuit, Coulthard watch the Ferrari nip him at the edge of the pit exit and it was game set match for the Ferrari team.
It was emotional times for all involved on the podium, Schumacher was quite clearly overwhelmed and during the German national anthem the tears poured.
What a driver. Personally if feel today puts him down in history as the best. He is one championship away from tieing the record of 5, he already holds the record for most Ferrari wins, hes now tied for most race wins in history, hes the only driver to win 2 championships with 2 teams and the list goes on and on. He is the Tiger Woods of forumla 1. He is the best driver we will ever whitness. I love watching both him and Tiger woods, to know you are seeing 2 of the greatest athletes the sporting world has ever seen.
Congrats to Schumacher, lets that Ferrari flag fly high and proud.
Cheers
