Tryfing to get their hands on other peoples money.

I love in the "politics of greed" vs "politics of envy" stereotypes that "lefties" are trying to get their hands on other people's money. "Lefties" that are in politics or politically active are usually well off professionals, arguing for change that could leave them worse off, but would benefit poorer people.

Conservatives, on the other hand, are raging progressives compared to people of centuries past, yet somehow think all progress should just now stop, right now (or often in the era of their parents), as somehow this moment in time (or 20 years ago) out of our 100 000 years or so of existence is just perfect, and no further change needs to be made.

What gives you the right to any property?

It’s only “yours” because a state owned police force (paid by all) protects your exclusive rights to a resource.

If the law is in a conservatives favour, it is "natural" or "traditional" and should not be changed. If it is not, it is due to "political correctness gone mad" or "interventionist policy" and needs to be changed. Might makes right except when you don't get what you want, apparently.

Don't try to ask deeper questions, like what creates social contracts, or how do institutions form and protect themselves, or about class consciousness, that would make you "Marxist" and we know they are bad...

Late last year everyone was told there would definitely be no significant rain in the first half of 2020. They were adamant about it.

Now we are into 2 days of a potential 4 day piss down.

Climate alarmists must be devastated. They thrive on doom and gloom so they feel justified by their absurd claims.

I’d love to stick Greta’s head in a bucket of rain water just to reacquaint herself with the liquid gold from the sky. But I’m afraid I might do it for a bit too long.....

If it was dry for the next month you wouldn’t be convinced anyway.

Meanwhile, average temperatures ARE getting hotter.

Any weather pattern is just a side effect of the climate change. It’s not the measuring stick.

I’m not typing essays on here. Socialism in its many forms does not work. Venezuela is just the latest example and what a disaster that is.

So it doesn’t work in any situation for anything?

We have elements of socialism in our current societal structure.

It works in small situations. I’d consider myself a socialist within my friends and family. For a country to go that way it spells disaster.

So you're against healthcare, fire brigades, police forces and military?

Wow. Nice genuine retort. Find me a capitalist country without those things.

Exactly they all have them.

All "capitalist" societies have "socialist" aspects where goods and services are pooled and distributed based on need.

At what point does capitalism become evil socialism exactly?

The genuine question is what resources do we pool and distribute for the common good, not whether we do it at all.

You can't have a society without some element of "socialism".

If socialism and capitalism are being brought up as ideas that supposedly show up the "left" vs the "right", it would be worth mentioning that being left does not necessarily mean supporting socialism (if one considers that different from social democracy) and being conservative doesn't mean necessarily supporting a completely laissez faire economy.

Hardly anyone thinks the state should own and control everything (maybe Kim Jong-un does), and hardly anyone believes that the state shouldn't at least control and regulate some markets and provide some law.
