SEA EAGLES MOVE TRAINING FACILITIES / ADMINISTRATION TO ACADEMY OF SPORT
In a tremendous coup for the Manly Sea Eagles the club has negotiated a long term agreement to move training and administration headquarters to the Academy of Sport at Narrabeen.
This will give Manly the equal of any training facility available in any code of football in Australia.
Sea Eagles executive director Paul Cummings said the move would be of great benefit to the Manly club.
"It provides state of the art facilities for the team in one confined area - we are delighted it has come to fruition.
"The Board of the Sea Eagles moved quickly once the opportunity arose," Mr. Cummings said.
He stressed the club would continue to use the club's spiritual home, Brookvale Oval, for home games and for some pre match training sessions.
"Brookvale will always be our home but this decision will take some traffic off the ground to enable it to be in pristine condition for matches in the NRL," he said.
Staff will move to Narrabeen on November 18 but the NRL squad will commence summer training at Narrabeen from next Monday, November 1.
Coach Des Hasler said the move was a giant professional step for the club.
"I can't stress its importance enough.
"It gives us a first class training ground, modern gymnasium, swimming pool, athletics track, cross country track and our doctor and physiotherapist within the complex.
"The players can arrive at Narrabeen and complete everything they need to do without leaving.
"It will be a one stop office for them and the envy of every club in the NRL.
"Other clubs travel to the Academy for specialised training - it will be our home base," Hasler said.
The Sea Eagles will take over the complex as chief tennant from the NSW Waratahs.
Manly's full time administration staff and coaching staff will be housed at the Academy as from November 18.
Until then the Sea Eagles will continue to operate out of 7-9 Federal Parade, Brookvale.
The future address for fans and supporters will be:
Manly Sea Eagles, Sydney Academy of Sport, Wakehurst Parkway, Narrabeen NSW 2101.
The current telephone number will continue for the time being.
The club's PO Box address will remain the same at Box 607 Brookvale 2100 NSW.
