SEA EAGLES SIGNING NEWS

30/07/2007
By Manly Sea Eagles

The Manly Sea Eagles today went a long way to securing its player strength for the future with a bulk resigning and new signing announcement. Manly today announced it had come to terms with the following current players:

* Jason King (3 years)
* Steve Matai (3 years)
* Glenn Hall (2 years)
* Adam Cuthbertson (3 years)

In addition the club confirmed the signing of the following players:

* Josh Perry (Newcastle front rower) for 3 years.
* Heath L'Estrange (Roosters hooker) 2 years

Manly Chief Executive Grant Mayer said the club was delighted with the signings on top of the club's most successful NRL campaign in 10 years. "The signings will ensure the Sea Eagles continue the path of recent seasons as one of the top teams in the NRL.
"It is significant to note that we are retaining players from our current in form side and adding class players to our roster. "Players are eager to play in the maroon and white again which is a tribute to the coaching staff who have done such a professional job under Des Hasler in recent seasons" Mr.Mayer said.

They're sending the Cat off to Fat Camp as soon as the Knights season is over right?

He's got talent. Lets see if a change of scenery can see him amount to something.

If Dessie can't get him fit and firing then no one will.Hope his contract is heavily laced with incentives.Lestrange will be a handy backup to Ballin.

I take it that would mean bye bye to Shayne Dunley for 2008?

:pray:.

I'm a little torn on Willow though. Despite being past his best, I think he's thrown up some vintage form this season and there is alot of value in having guys like Afamasaga, Beaver and Cuthbo coming off the bench for impact. Willow also gives the side an emergency hooker to allow more forwards on the bench.

did brett stewart re-sign at some stage? if they blew all their money on those 6 id be very disappointed, matai and cuthbo only two there that i would def keep if worst came to worst i could deal with the rest leaving if it meant stewart stayed

Ah f*ck. Ahead of who? The local junior who has killed it this year and sh*ts all over Perry based on '07 performances, or the current international prop on 380k a year?

Perry can start the year on the bench. There will be plenty of opportunities throughout the year for him to have a crack at the starting role when King/Kite are out with rep duty/injury.

Don't panick, it seems i missheard him - he said from the bench or a starting spot he's an excellent aquisition.

Perry better pull his shorts up, slow down on the beers and like others have said, grow a backbone.

I suppose the good thing is that Dessie has been able to turn King into a good prop so provided Perry has the right attitude he should be able to do the same with him.

I thing is for sure, we won't be short of props next year.

Oh and great news that Cuthbo has resigned. Pity we lost Groom a week or so ago though.

I'm with you, I want to see Willow stay at Manly for the right price!
Don't know what was better, Manly beating Parra or the news we have re-signed Cuthbo :D

$0. He has been playing well defensively, I give him that. His attack is non existant.

excuse me what? dont resign menzies and shift an international and origin prop to second row to accomodate a new and average prop? if that happens then manly bosses are mentally disabled without doubt. beaver wants to play next year and on form alone he will, not to mention all the other factors that indicate he'll sign: his loyalty to the club, his status as a club legend, his consistency, his effect on the younger forwards, his leadership qualities
