Why do the fans boo him everytime he gets the ball? I've watched 3 Saints games this season (vs. Leeds, Wigan and I think Wakefield) and everytime Long gets the ball, the crowd just erupts with booing, and they cheer real loud when he gets tackled. What'd he do to make everyone so mad?

Last year he was suspended over here, for making a bet against his own team (St Helens) in a game where he allegedly knew they would go in vastly understrength (11 late changes?).

Missed half a season, came back just before the Tri-Nations. That game was last easter I think, so might be in other fans minds at this time of year?

yeah jealousy thats all it is mate..... he is regarded as one of the best over here but he has been playing poor lately.....other fans just wish they had him thats all.

Long and Gleeson did immense damage to the game's integrity through the beetting scandal. Gleeson at least seemed to accept that he'd been incredibly stupid, quietly served his suspension and got on with his career.

By contrast, Long spent his suspension arrogantly whinging to the press about how hard done by he was, without even a glimmer of acknowledgement of the harm he'd done to the game.

all he said was that it was harsh the punishment..... which it was not only the ban but saints stoped paying him which could of meaned he lost around 80 thousand or so.

yeah but dont forget mate.... he never cheated against he's own team or anything like that..... he was just clever enough to know that we were playing a weakened team... so he put the bet on......... stupid YES........ cheating NO

So how many weeks did he get? And do they not boo Gleeson because he accepted it and moved on (or do they boo him and I just haven't watched the right Warrington game yet?).

they dont boo gleeson because he isent at saints anymore.... it's a jealousy thing... because where a top team long gets booed...

long got 3 months which turned out to be more 13 to 14 weeks.

Sean long is booed because:
a) he has a ridiculas hair cut
b) he was involved in the betting scandal
c) he spit his dummy out over it

The main reason gleeson doesnt get booed and long does is because long moaned about the ban, whereas gleeson-who was banned for longer, just got on with it quitely with moaning.
