I'm starting to think the players have had belief in both themselves and the club for a while that we simply cannot see due to the terrible on field performances. Injuries are going to f**k us this year, but I think most Tigers fans can agree we just wanted to see a competitive platform that we can build upon for next year with the arrival of Api and Papali'i (and more than likely some others). If you look at the Bulldogs, they bought all these good players but they still don't have the platform for success. Broncos and Cowboys are starting to show success....and what a co-incidence they both have new, experienced halfbacks.

I genuinely feel we have found our platform for success with the introduction of Hastings (ohhhh also a new halfback!). It's like he was the missing piece of the puzzle to get us on the long road to finals, rather than the downward spiral to our first spoon we all thought we were on.

Never give up the faith

We are still missing someone who can change a game with pure speed or power. You can compete with defence for a while but eventually everyone will burn out. We need that player when the team is physically shot that just can turn something out of nothing and get us back in the game. Apart from perhaps Brook's there isnt a single player in our team capable of that . Fullback is our weakest link with our spine and we need to look far and wide to improve on Laurie im afraid.

Has anyone seen how William Kei and Junior Tupou are going? I don’t know why but we always seems to waste top 30 spots on outside backs that a years away from first grade. We have had Dylan Smith, Kane Bradley and Reece Hoffman recently. Even Zac Cini was a waste even though he got a couple of games.

those spots could be better used on someone who can actually put pressure on those in first grade

Maybe they actually put the pessure on the top grade, just by being there?

Who wants to play reserve grade, if your good enough for first grade?

Apparently Shark's cap is very tight due to all the signings they made and apparently they haven't factored Talakai having the season that he is having....who is also off contract for next year.

I reckon we make him an offer to good to refuse. Our cap is in really good shape and if we had money for both Nikora and Talakai (who Sharks apparently don't have the cap space for) then f**k me sideways we will be in good shape next year.

Kei is horrible, I’d rather Cini and that’s saying something. Once he’s gone it’s finally the last of Cleary’s shit contracts off our books.

Tupou has talent but is a cat, he hates the collision, like I’ve genuinely seen him step out of the way of making tackles, and he isn’t small either. It’s such a strange one but atm it seems a horrible contract. No wonder he went from the Raiders to Union.

Junior stars shine as Harold Matthews crowned Champions!

Well done, hopefully some gooduns come out the team.

Was a terrific performance by the best team in the comp by a mile this year. The sharks upset the roosters to make the GF last week, were noticeably smaller however have some smart quick halves and we’re the better team for the first 10 mins leading 6-2.

Wests seemed nervous and playing well within themselves until they got their first try to level up and then took total control. Unfortunately the Sharks had their 7 sent off with about 20 to go which killed it as a contest however it was already 24-10 when that Happened.

Best for the magpies were the 2,
5,6,8,9,12 & 13. The 12 Lachie Galvin looks like an out and out NRL player. There’s big wraps on the 8 Jordan Miller who is absolutely massive but also has a lot of skill. This was very noticeable throughout the team. Often at this level teams/ players can be good just because they’re big (and like I said Wests were definitely bigger then the sharks) however they all can pass and played with good structure.

The team had everything you want not just in talent but all guys had the build of what you want in that position. Tall wingers who finished well, stocky centres who could beat their opposite with footwork or power. Lanky back rowers who could offload, big broad middles, fast skillful halves with great passing and running games. The fullback went ok without standing out however I found out after the game he’s only 15 which is pretty massive at this level.

It’s always hard to pick who will make it at 16/17 as there’s so much development for guys in the next 2-3 years but this is a very exciting bunch. Also worth noting all bar 2 come from the Wests local comp. I know it always looks this way when you win but they seemed a close knit group who knew each other’s games well. Let’s hope we hold onto them as they progress.

There is a reason he has been average his whole career and is now playing out of his skin.

I watched the game Tupou played fullback and he was deadset awful.

I know we’re looking at Nikora and I think we were talking to Pele as well. Hamlin-Uele and Royce Hunt are off contract as well. I’d prefer them to Talakai tbh.

If we win 2 games from 12 (about half way through the season) is that good enough to keep Madge on for next season?

I don't put all the blame on his coaching skills. I reckon by the end of next season we should be saying farewell to a fair percentage of our roster. Is there a coach we are a reasonable chance of signing who could actually improve our roster and not just do the win a few lose a few routine?
