So with the pending arrival of our FIRST ever wooden spoon, we will soon get reminded about it by rhyno.
Rhyno, you cockwomble, let's take a quick maths lesson before you get too carried away.
Parra have been in the comp for 75 years. They have won 14 wooden spoons. So, on average, they win a wooden spoon every 5.3 seasons. That is a very persistent and concentrated effort. You only have to wait 4 more years, then bingo !! a nice new grainy wooden spoon.
Wests Tigers, on the other hand will soon be presented with their first ever spoon. We have been in the comp for 22 years, so on average, we win the spoon every 22 seasons.
So, old bean, whip out your trusty Casio fx39 from year 9 and check the maths.
Once you've done that, sit the fkk back down.

Surely you will get reminded that West Tigers have been in the comp for a lot shorter time than the Eels. So please remind me (and Rhyno) how do the WTs and the Eels compare if you look at wooden spoons and premierships(!) during the 22 years the WTs have been merged?

Last game of the year for us, at least the media aren't giving it to us. I can't wait for it to end.

They say it's lonely at the top, but it's utterly cavernous at the bottom, we are alone.

Next year???

OK, sure. It helps my point.
Since 2000 ( WT 1st year ) . . . Pawwa have won the spoon 3 times. 2012, 2013, 2018. And of course have not won any premierships. You do have to admire the consistency and dedication to being a shit team.
Weststigers, on the other hand have won zero wooden spoons . . . soon to be 1 . . . . and of course have won a premiership with the extremely envious, finals series av. game score of 33.5 - 10.

What were everyone's thoughts going into the start of the year? Did anyone think we'd do any good?

I looked at our team, and the wooden spoon market and loaded up accordingly. I felt a bit shit betting on my own team to fail, and secretly hoped I wouldn't collect, but knew I would.

To be completely honest we have actually exceeded my expectations. I only had us down for 1 or 2 wins. It was plain as day we had nothing in attack. The bonus for this year has been Hastings. In my wildest dreams I didn't think he was an organiser or played with any passion. He's far from the complete package but has provided direction and heart. It gives me a bit of hope for next year that we won't go 'back to back.'

With the addition of Api and Papi plus the return of Twal, and the addition of the Dolphins I think we should be sweet for 16th. Of course, knowing the Tigers we'll let Papi stay at Parra and after we refuse to given Hastings a $100K bump, we'll let him walk early as well. On top of that we'll sign Brooks to a 5 year deal at $1 mil for the first year ranging up to $2 mil for the final year. We'll sing in the streets about how great it is to have a 1 club player in this day and age. And if all that happens, Pascoe will still be CEO after Brooks has retired........

Smart move by Sheens, he has let Kimmorley and Madge take all this hits and avoided any of the blame for shit show of this year. He's done this knowing the board will give him more control next year as he presents himself as the savior. He tells the board it will take 3 years to change and gets a job with little pressure and Benji takes the job when the pressure is on.
