And you agree with the article that this coronavirus is at least as bad as the Spanish flu?

How would I know ? Leave it to the experts. Wash your hands. Wear a mask if you are unable to social distance.

Which experts? It seems they're not all agreed. Or do you mean the government and the newsreaders?

No, you laughed at my predicted timing of the second wave.

It's back in this thread somewhere - go find it. I was talking about a second wave, and I was generally talking about how I know everything about everything (you know...normal day) and you were like - so when will the second wave be? When EXACTLY will it be? EXACTLY!!!

And I said July and you took it upon yourself to mock my prediction.

Which is fine. I love when people do that.

I was right. And I was right about housing prices. And I was right about the chronic aspects of COVID. And I was right about Global Warming.

And I'll be right about it coming from a lab.

I'm always right, so laugh away.

Gronk tells me that yes, lockdowns were used.

Estimates suggest that the world population in 1918 was 1.8 billion.

Based on this, the low estimate of 17.4 million deaths by Spreeuwenberg et al. (2018) implies that the Spanish flu killed almost 1% (0.95%) of the world population.9

If we rely on the estimate of 50 million deaths published by Johnson and Mueller, it implies that the Spanish flu killed 2.7% of the world population. And if it was in fact higher – 100 million as these authors suggest – then the global death rate would have been 5.4%.

https://ourworldindata.org/spanish-flu-largest-influenza-pandemic-in-history#:~:text=If we rely on the, rate would have been 5.4%.

Are you trying to suggest that this virus must be bad BECAUSE we went into lockdown? As bad as the Spanish flu?

just asking a question, thought you might know

I thought it was being compared to the annual flue which I dont think has ever caused a lock down

I don't know of any other occasions that have caused lockdowns on this scale and I don't believe it's ever been done for the flu. But once the virus has spread lockdowns have proved to be next to useless. Obviously this is not the case in Australia and New Zealand but you can see that even though there was so little spread here it's very difficult to keep on top of.

So I assume (rightly or wrongly) that your opinion is to just let it run rampant?
Just trying to confirm where you are coming from.
