Aaccording to the
Just wondering where we sit players on guaranteed contracts (not developmental or train and trial) for next year. It already feels like we are over 30 players, but I'm not sure.

We may run into trouble registering them. However, the storm seems fine doing it so there's a precedent there.

I wonder what the rule is if we are over 30 come the start of next season, and players we may not want such as AD, Sullivan, and Bateman, can't find new homes? Is it last person to sign a contract is shown the door?

Of course, we may be under 30 and there'd be no problem.
According to the official NRL site we sit at 30 without Bird or Horsey. This is based on contracts that effect 2025.
I think players like Tumeth who has an option to go..will go.
The list indicates development players but where it says NRL that indicates they are in the top 30 for that year.
I think we may have to wait till November before everything shakes out which includes signings and farewells.

All the talent in the world with a unless coach equals failure ... Just ask Broncos 2024

It's a massive concern.

I wouldn't sack him simply because that hasn't worked in the past but geez I hope he has the ability to learn from his mistakes and surround himself with people with skills that he doesn't have.

I think he is good at getting along with the players and maybe good at helping out with recruitment but tactically I think he is useless.

Bateman appears to be gone.

I think the club would also like to get rid of:-

Jayden Sullivan
Brent Naden
Brandon Tumeth

The club also signed Doueihi for next year which astounds me with it's stupidity. On a minimum contract for 1 year he is fine but not in the context of our lack of roster spots.

Naden actually offers a bit as well (mostly in reserves) and I'd happily keep him even though he'd be better off on a cup contract.

Where's it say Bateman's gone?

Guys the last two signings of Skelton and Hunt are done and dusted. That means Wests Tigers have proven to the NRL that there is/will be space in our roster otherwise the contracts could not have been ratified.
The Bird signing isn't officially announced has it? Probably because it hasn't been ratified.

Yeah, I haven’t included anyone on or off the list that still has a contract.

It's just in the press a couple of times. There has been nothing official. I hope it's true though.
Me too.
Some of those development players and fringe players are taking up room too. Some are still too young by a year.

I wouldn't be giving Miller a contract. Why were we pinning our middle hopes on that telly tubby has befuddled me.
He is a big lad but 15kg of gut.
It annoys me because these young fellas are trying to get the big dollars without putting in the effort.
Before handing out a contract I would have given him some performance goals/criteria that he has to achieve first.
This way, he has to prove that he has the desire and if puts in the effort and achieve these goals then he gets rewarded.
It's the same with every position. Set performance criteria.
For a back, if you can't run 50m in x amount of seconds you don't get a contract.

Further to add to performance goals and criteria. I know something similar to what I've said exists but our head of performance doesn't seem to be getting results at our club.
I picked on Miller because I've watched him this year on NSWRLTV and he's been disappointing, fitness wise.

It’s possible that Api will miss the first 3 weeks of the season, due to his tackle.

Think the only question mark over how much you improve next year is Benji. The squad shapes up nicely with the talent you have debuted this year and the players you have signed for next. the only potential hinderance i see for a significant improvement in results is coaching. Im not saying Benji cant do it just that it remains to be seen,

Someone else said it, but in arguably our most important game of the year (spoon bowl) he basically admitted he didn’t have a game plan, except to just play footy?
He had a bunch of kids playing.
Plus going on a holiday when we had a bye round.
Not good enough.
