Season Review
Firstly, Id like to say this is my season review, and is only the opinion of myself and nobody else and maybe some other people would like to write their own.
Well what a Forum 7s season its been, after the dramas of last year, this years comp really took off and in nearly every match we got a 5 Vs 5 contest and with the big chance of the comp growing next year, its looking to be a great third year in the 7s.
Management:
Id like to start off with management as they, once again made this season the great season it was. Willow was once again a great CEO and the others who have helped him including Backpacker and all the captains should be very proud of their effort. You have done a brilliant job, and Im looking forward to working again with you in 2005.
The Backpacker:
I think it just shows how much many others and I respected BP, when it was announced that he past away the replies in the Easts Thread, the posts just kept coming.
BP was a mate to many, and only wanted the best for Forum 7s and when playing for Easts wouldnt want to let them down one bit, he was the best in his Sportsmanship, and early this year he showed he would have been a great ref.
He was a mate to myself and I can say I still miss his input, and I hope his family is ok at this moment.
Thank You, Mate.
Referees:
Without you we wouldnt have a game, so in a lot of ways you deserve the biggest praise of all. Antonius, Mystique, BP and Salivor did a great job this year.
I think all the praise that goes to you in deserved, and we wish you luck for next year, keep up the good work.
Teams/Players:
This year, the teams and the players showed what fun Forum 7s can be, but in the same time be competitive.
We saw some new players show us that they have got what it takes, and we had Newtown win the Grand Final, after losing to Easts in a cliff-hanger last year.
For the Sharks it was a great year, after the lost to the Lions early in the year they went on an un-beaten streak, only to be beaten in the Grand Final, well done to them.
Souths looked the goods in the early part of the season, but they went down a bit in the latter part of the season. They did make the Semi-Finals and maybe next year will be there year.
The Lions made the Finals in their first year, a great achievement in itself, but seeing that with a few rounds to go they were in the running for the wooden spoon. A great year, and will be looking to improve on that next year.
The Rhinos were leading the comp for a while this year, and looked like a huge chance to take out the title before not even making the finals. People bag Parramatt, but he led his team well this year.
The Roosters, who had won the first two Forum 7s comps, were favourites for a third but didnt make the finals. Led by PP, and a new bunch of players, they had promise during the season but didnt make it to the finals.
How unlucky were the Panthers? Losing a few games by only 0.1 which if they had won would of given them a chance at the Minor Premiership. Big Mick did a great job in leading them and they are a huge chance next year.
Parramatta showed some signs of improvement, but were not really in with a chance of making the finals. VG did well in her first year as captain, and will improve next year.
The Pirates were one of the favourites but didnt deliver this year, but despite that they have the best player in the game in Thierry Henry and will be looking to improve next year.
Good luck to everyone in the Tri-Nations and the Possibles Vs Probables tournaments and good luck in 2005!
