How often do we get offside penalties against the opposition? It feels very rare these days.
Is it true last night that when French kicked through to score that the ref asked if he was onside? Saw it on twitter but just wondering if it came through on sports ears?
Did your mate have a john grant pic to back it up?Mate at the game last night made an interesting comment...
"Channel Nine need Thursday night games to be exciting and close so no one switches channels before the end."
Kinda like ARLC need bums on seats at Suncorp for Origin III
f**k me ... it wasnt even a difficult one to realise the ONE player did a chip n chaseWatched the highlights when I got home after the game. Dave Munro says "can we check the onside?" And perenara states "he was the kicker". The fact that he didn't know that should show everybody that he isn't to a first grade standard.
My mate IS John Grant.Did your mate have a john grant pic to back it up?
we also need to cut out the silly errors that are in our game that cause us to continually put the team under pressure and defend for longer periods which fatigues us which leads to us getting dominated more in tackles.
Yeah it was Mbye, he got up and stepped to the side of Kenny, Kenny held his postion made the tackle and was penalised. We also got penalised on goal line defence because they were holding our guys jumper and he was trying to get back to the goal line - couldn't get there, so took part in the next play. Why penalise the defender because the attacker is holding him!?!
Also, Kenny Edwards got penalised for not being square in the first half even though the guy playing the ball stepped a meter sideways to play it. Not a bad tactic I guess? Move sideways so the markers aren't square, then just run at them...
Fact is there is not enough 1st grade standard Refs when you need 2 per game.Watched the highlights when I got home after the game. Dave Munro says "can we check the onside?" And perenara states "he was the kicker". The fact that he didn't know that should show everybody that he isn't to a first grade standard.
kenny is one of ours and we like our own - but lets be honest, if he played for someone else we'd likely think he's a merkinYeah it was Mbye, he got up and stepped to the side of Kenny, Kenny held his postion made the tackle and was penalised.
Kenny had a bemused look on his face.
Poor old Kenny is his worst enemy but, he does some dumb things and the refs are on his case all the time because of it.
But we won't get away with his dumb plays against the Roosters, storm, Broncos etc.kenny is one of ours and we like our own - but lets be honest, if he played for someone else we'd likely think he's a merkin
I was just having a whinge in the game day thread in the NRL forum and thought I should repost here for the rest of you merkins.
WTF is going on with our opposition in the second half? Why are they so disciplined despite their fatigue? Seven times this year (in 16 games) our opposition have conceded fewer than two penalties in the second half:
Round 7: Eels 10 - 16 Tigers at half time, Tigers conceded zero second half penalties
Round 8: Eels 12 - 0 Panthers at half time, Panthers conceded zero second half penalties
Round 9: Eels 14 - 0 Cowboys at half time, Cowboys conceded one second half penalty
Round 10: Eels 4 - 28 Roosters at half time, Roosters conceded one second half penalty
Round 12: Eels 18 - 0 Rabbitohs at half time, Bunnies conceded one second half penalty
Round 15: Eels 12 - 4 Dragons at half time, Dragons conceded one second half penalty
Round 17: Eels 12 - 2 Bulldogs at half time, Dogs conceded zero second half penalties
In five of those games we led at half time by 8 to 18 points, then found ourselves up against flawless (or close to it) second half opposition.
It's f**ken bullshit.
ironically, we won the game off the back of a suspect penalty, the call and the game went our way
I don't even understand why people think that final penalty shouldnt have been given .... the merkin had his hands on the ball for far too long and it flung out as a resultironically, we won the game off the back of a suspect penalty, the call and the game went our way

thats a penalty 8.5 times out of 10 - we were hardly lucky
just cos f**kin perenara let em get away with that for 98% of the game, doesn't mean it wasnt a legit penalty
If you'd read the rest of my whinging on the game day thread you'd know exactly why merkin! What's your take on it, then?
