If the Storm buy Craig Field and play him at hooker then they will have the "dirtiest" front row that have been caught to date!

"Under the NRL's drug policy, because we play in a winter sport and because pseudoephedrine is in all the cold and flu remedies that you buy over the counter, the NRL and the ARL had determined if players wish to take it they can," Carr said
I don't understand something here. How is it that the IOC can have this substance on their banned list, yet it's not on the ARL list?
Nevertheless, Kearns is a self-confessed idiotic drug cheat if you ask me. Why would he publically come outand confess it,if it looked like the ARL/NRL would never have bought up the issue in the future?
The epitome of stupidity in my opinion.
Cheers - Aaron C.

I think you are all being a bit too hard on him - he is a front rower after all. What would they know about keeping mum on certain issues?
What an idiot.

all atheletes know psuedo is a banned substance.
it opens up a huge can of worms, are the kangaroos a team of cheats?

Fair go.
The guy took some Sudafeds. I have a packet in my own medicine cabinet. As the brand name suggests it is 'pseudo - ephedrine'.
pseudo = fake.
ephedrine = mild speed.
When I cop a bit of flu there is a very slight danger that I might get short of breath and bring on asthma. If I pop a Sudafed, my air passages are opened up slighly and I don't feel drowsy. So I can drive a car and go to work. I haven't had to use it for quite a while but it's good to have it handy.
I bought this stuff at a chemist shop.
Last time I checked, my local pharmacist hasn't turned to the darkside and as the article said, it's not illegal in the NRL.

Whether or not we have a drug cheat here is beside the point.
The fact is, Kearns can't be strung up for taking a non-prescription drug which is not banned by the NRL.

The only reasonsudafed is banned by the IOC is because it can be used to mask a positive to ephedrine, which is a form of speed. Sudafed dries up nasal secretions and is used in most cold tablets. Anyone here who has had a cold tablet has had it. Did it feel like you were taking speed? I don't think so. The NRL dosen't ban it because it's not a performance enhancing drug. The codiene in the same cold tablet would be more performance enhancing than the psudeoephedrine because it is a strong painkiller (the weakesttype of opiate).

Regardless of how many people use it or how harmless a medicine it is, we have heard this defence over and over again, I had the flu so I took some tablets. I would have thought that all clubs would have a doctor, and if a player needs ANY medication they are to go through the club doctor. I dont know how many times it has to happen, or if he is that thick that he did not know it was an illegal drug. Ignorance is no excuse for stuipidity.

I agree with everything that Johnnsy said.
Also tell me, how do we know that Kearns didn't takethe psudoephedrine for the purposes of masking the other illegal substance that it helps cover up?
But he certainly is an idiot for what he did.

I disagree with a lot of the comments made regarding Robbie Kearns. I don't think the guy did much wrong. He took a common flu tablet that has been declared by the ARL/NRL to be perfectly legal. I can't see what the problem is.

Now I know some will be thinking that "Kearns should have known better...it's banned internationally...he's a drug cheat...he's stupid...etc." But you are being very harsh. This man did not break any rules, he did not take steroids, he did not suddenly become a bad role model for youngsters. Why pseudoephedrine is banned internationally is beyond me. It is such a petty rule.

Kearns cannot be labelled "stupid", for he did not do anything wrong. Whilst he was quoted as saying he was "stupid and naive", I think that was more of a public relations exercise than a reflection of how he truly feels.

And Raging Bulldog, quit with the conspiracy theories would you.

What an idiot. I always had alot of admiration for Kearns even though he doesn't play for the Bulldogs, but this is just a case of not thinking.
Why wouldn't you consult with the team doctor before taking something for an illness or sickness?
Maybe he just wasn't thinking, or maybe there's something more sinister to the whole ordeal than what we're being told.
Either way, he made a goose out of himself for letting everyone find out about it.
Go the Doggies.

Fair crack of the whip!
Now we have people saying he took the Sudafed to cover up some other performance enhancing drug... can someone provide some proof of this? Or everyone just having a good ol' gossip?
The IOC also has a friggin' ban on caffeine. Do we start making accusations at players just because they drink too much coffee?
Fair dinkum. This is a nothing story and the game can do without this sort of rumour mongering.
Show me some real proof that this Rugby League player is a drug cheat. If you can't, then just stick to the facts.
