I think he regrets signing with Toulon and that he'll miss the Eels, but once he gets a couple of €45k monthly pay checks he will get used to his new life. He won't be back.

So I am told that there has been some recent changes in Top 14 which limits imports. This is why the Toulon squad are top heavy on the Frogs now and they have let go random Aussies like James O'Connor, Quade Cooper etc .

This means that players like Semi who won't actually be in the 1st 15, will be called upon during the 6 Nations that starts in Feb 2018.

None of their current wingers when I looked were French. They had 2 South Africans, 1 Fijian (not Semi) and another one who's ethnicity I've forgotten.

And if they have to cut players I don't think they'll cut the highly capped Bryan Habana or JP Pieterson.

*edit* They have 2 more wingers. 1 from France and 1 from England so they'll have 2 6 nation affected players.

This article suggests that the Semi signing is a "crazy bet". As per twitter translate.

The former Parramatta Eels’ winger has signed a contract to the end of the season, with an option for another year. But he insisted his first job is to break into the team rather than worry about what may happen when June 2018 rolls around.

Commenting on reports in the Australian press that he has already decided to stay on for the second year of his contract, the 25-year-old said: “That’s what happens back home, in the media. I signed my contract last November and I’m happy. I want to be part of this team. It will be up to the club if they want me to stay on.

“I’m looking forward to focusing on this year. We’ll look again after that.”

A couple months of not speaking the language, being 20+ hours from family and likely not playing first team footy and Semi will want out..

And during the week, we keep him locked up in a cage with only one plain yoghurt and no sugar to eat per day, like that when one lays it on the lawn, it will eat everybody. ^ _ <

All this bear and shovel talk has me thinking that bears do shit in the woods, but they are rather discreet about it.
