For a 1 off gig that is.

http://www.smh.com.au/news/music/sex-pistols-reform-for-oneoff-gig/2007/09/19/1189881554282.html

British punk rock band The Sex Pistols will perform a one-off concert in November to mark the 30th anniversary of their album Never Mind the Bollocks.
The four surviving original band members - John Lydon, Steve Jones, Paul Cook and Glen Matlock - told a British music paper the band would play south London's Brixton Academy on November 8. Tickets for the concert go on sale this Friday.
The Pistols spearheaded the British Punk rock movement in the 1970s, helping to spawn hundreds of similar bands like the Clash and the Damned, who railed against the establishment and supergroups who they said had become boring.
The band split in 1978 shortly before the death of bassist Sid Vicious in New York from a drugs overdose.
Speaking about their return to the London gig scene for the first time since 2002, lead singer Lydon, who went by the stage name of Johnny Rotten, told music paper NME : "Maybe it's because we're all Londoners, but there would be no Sex Pistols without dear old London town."
The album Never Mind the Bollocks - here's the Sex Pistols has been consistently voted one of the most influential in modern music history, drawing praise from artists as diverse as Nirvana and Paul McCartney.
The band's God Save the Queen single will be reissued on seven-inch vinyl to celebrate the anniversary.

I saw the last reformation at the Hordern in about 97 .

I was suprised at how good they were.

I was too young to see them first time around but my older brother made me away of them at the time.
We used to rewind the cassette to hear the swearing ....over and over and over.

Jesus.....punk's version of a boy band...reforming.

Never liked the Pistols....just found their music a tad contrived. I'm more a Clash man, myself.

Thats funny

I reckon the clash sound like a white pommie reggae band trying to play punk music .

Not the early Clash.

Unlike the Sex Pistols, who were a punk boy band put together by McLaren, the Clash were pretty damn good musos.

Their later stuff, with the reggae influence was a step away from punk but reflected the environment they grew up in.....reggae music was huge in the underground scene in the late 70's to early 80's. The Clash are pretty much the fathers of the ska movement.

hahahaha

I don't need a history lesson....especially one that is wrong.

FTR Steve Jones and Paul Cook formed the Sex Pistols in the very early 70's.
Matlock came along a bit later....before McLaren was around.
McLaren coaxed Rotten into auditioning to be their singer because the other guys had seen him around and thought he was a freak.
They asked McLaren to do it because he knew Rotten .
Rotten was always hanging around in McLarens shop...''sex''. on kings Rd.

Fuggen McLaren merely put his hand up to manage them....that was all.
He was just a bullshidder with a bit of money as any one of those bands will tell you.

Fairy muff....

Either way...I'm not a huge fan of their music and seeing them old and wrinkled on stage won't improve it. I think their image probably assisted in selling more records for them rather than their music.

Funnily enough, I quite liked PiL. Must be a Lydon thing

Sex Pistols are awesome, for what they were they wrote some killer songs.

I actually though they had a better sound in 97 than they did in their early days.

If you ever catch the filthy lucre video for "pretty vacant" it has such a fuller sound than its original recording, awesome stuff!

yes.

They were great on the filthy lucre tour.

I went expecting to see some sort of sad car crash...what I got was the real sex pistols playing awesome renditions of their classics songs.

They were the first and the best. Without them there would have been no Clash,
Stranglers, Damned etc.

Actually......they were all bloody beaut.

It's not easy being a 53 year old punk fan....
