On defense they are only really a co-ordinator and a LB away from a dominant defens
I see your LB and raise you a FS.
Landry is a good Safety, but after the death of Sean Taylor he was expected to take over. The D system this year was terrible for Landry. He had to play alot of deep coverage or man-to-man on the TE or slot.
Zimmer could just play Horton and maybe have Landry playing at the level he was last year.
On offense, its not as though Jason Campbell isn't talented. For gods sake let this guy settle into one system. If they decide to proceed with him, they'll get a very good QB in 1-2 seasons if they stick with Shangahan's system.
Jason Campbell is a RFA. If they get an offer, he is done, otherwise he will be a skin for another season.
At WR I can honestly see them making a play for Brandon Marshall now. Brandon Marshall and Santana Moss will make for a good 1/2 WR combination. From 3-5 on the depth chart they are young emerging guys so they will get better.
Moss is not a 1 or 2 WR any more. He would be better in the slot. Randle El will be out IMO.
At TE they have two great pass catching Tight Ends in Cooley and with the emergence of Fred Davis they have threats there. I'd be going with a 2 TE set with Marshall and Moss on either side of Davis and Cooley...just run streaks with Marshall, Go routes with Moss and Slants across the middle with Davis and Cooley...it'd get results.
This is why I would love to see us become a 2 TE power run team. Portis, Betts and Ganther have proven they can pound the rock inside, then we can run PA to Cooley or Davis off of that. I do kind of expect to see Cooley's name thrown around in trades.
The only real problem the Skins have is just freakin ordinary O-Line. That is their main concern in the draft.
Mike needs to find another Ryan Clady in the draft, but they need a LT, RT and C...and if they get them...they need time to develop and not chop and change.
Our biggest problem by far. We better not trade any picks, we need OL all over the place.
I think you raise some great points, but majority of our problems are in management. Hopefully Shanahan can fix this. Then lets sort out that O-line.
