Does anyone know if he is off contract?

If so he would be a tremendous buy. If anybody saw the Cowboys/Knights game last Sunday, you'd know what I'm talking about. He was unstoppable, offloading at will with 3 or 4 Knights hanging on trying to ground him. Newcastle had some big boppers such as Parsons, Perry, Woolnough, & both Kennedys, yet they just could not handle this bloke. He is massive (193cm, 125kg!), yet his work rate was outstanding - 32 tackles, 18 hit-ups.

This wasn't a one off performance out of the bag either. I've seen a bit of him lately & he has improved rapidly. If he's available I'd throw the kitchen sink at him.

It was much the same v Parra the week before. Dont like the chances of him being off contract

I came here just to post on this very topic!

I've only seen him play once on sunday - but boy he was a handful. He isn't a rampaging forward like Mason but he sure is a big unit and a handful for the defence.

Exactly the kind of big forward we need since our pack is the smallest in the NRL.

The cowboys quickly took up an option on his contract only recently....he's there till the end of next year.

I wanted both him and Payne to come to the Tiges next season but the Cowboys snapped both of them up very quick

If only they had a half back they'd be nearly unstoppable the Cowboys.

They have a very talented Half Back in Sheppo the problem is he has been injured and playing injured but he is a very good young halfback

Yeah: Rauhihi, Tronc, Sargent, O'Donnell (ahem), Norton, McWilliams + Smith, Webb... very talented pack.

Can anyone confirm if Shane is the son of ex Magpie captain Scott Tronc? He was a handy customer. If it is I think I saw him play about three or four years ago for the Bulldogs in Matthews or Ball. He was bloody Huuuuuuggggeeee!!! back then. Shame to see him not playing for the good club his old man played for, but great to see the mutts miss out on a talent.

he played for the dogs when he was 18 and from all reports he didn't adjust to sydney life too well and went back to brisbane and then was snapped up by the cowboys this year after impressing in the qld cup.

No relation what so ever.
He is the son of Jim Tronc who played for Redcliffe and Souths in Brisbane.
Shane is a born and bred Queenslander who signed with the Dogs as a youngster but came back to Qld to play with Redcliffe before moving to the Cowboys. And yes he is a Cowboy until the end of 2005.

I heard he was no relation to Scott.

Shane was one of my players to follow from late last year, too bad he is now tied up but we could score big time if young cowboy forward Mathew Scott isnt signed up,if he isnt he would be close to the best buy on the market.
