Toyota Park
Referee: Gavin Badger
Video Referee: Mick Stone
Touch Judges: Steve Chiddy, Matt Cecchin

Can anyone shed light on the referee? Style etc. Apparently he held the whistle last w/end in the Souths/Broncos match. Any reports on his performance there?

He made his debut last week, and there were no complaints. That's good enough for me.

After one game, I can already sense he'll do a much better job then Hayne.

I watched that Broncos v Souths game in TV. He was ordinary.
Better than Hayne, but ordinary.

Style of Referee? He's an inexperienced nervous hometeam harry!

We need a big vocal crowd out there tonight and we'll definately get a penalty count in our favour.

I thought it was a solid performance, made a few errors but made the calls confidently and handled the two physical packs well. Good 2nd match

I thought his 10 metres was abysmal Beeker.. not just from our perspective as I beleive we were off side a lot too. That had to have some impact on the completion rates.

Other than that, I thought he did alright. He had two nuffies for Touchies helping him. He's no Shayne Hayne that's for sure.

Very early in the piece though mate.

I agree on the 10, it was very variable, early in the sets it was shocking, then he moved them back further with each tackle.

Also his marker ruling was very loose, lots of un-square markers all night long.

BUt hey, there is lots to police as a ref and he will learn with experience

thats a very good point belinda, it indicated to me that was because he was getting the call from the video box.

Obviously with so much to think of as a rookie, the video ref was doing the count for him alot.
