Sheffield Shield 14/15

Saw this in the West Australian over the weekend

Sheffield Shield cricket could mirror the domestic one-day competition by having fewer matches next year after Edwards said the six-month domestic season was not sufficient to fit in all the cricket required to be played.
"There is not enough time in the season," Edwards.
"There are some tough decisions ahead about what we do with State cricket."
The Big Bash League will run for nearly two months while the Ryobi Cup is held as a one-city tournament lasting a month.
At least two rounds of shield cricket could be cut next year.

 Cricket Australia

Proving to be a bunch of money loving whores at the expense of First Class/Test Cricket

I think we need to bite the bullet and sign some international players to take part. Max 1-2 per side. We used to have these types of players, it gives our domestic players some quality teammates and opposition while giving international players a chance to play in Australian conditions. Right now the competition is being shafted and that has to have an effect on the national side while our domestic players will remain ordinary domestic standard players if they don't get the experience of playing with or against class opposition. Our biggest international draw is still big test series so while this is the case that is where our funds should go.

Whilst I agree, if we did that I'd want a 7th side added to offset the 12 Aussie players who would miss out each round.

James Sutherland won't be sacked if Australia lose Ashes 5-0

All on the right track mate

James Sutherland will keep his job as chief executive of Cricket Australia even if the Test team loses the Ashes five-nil, chairman Wally Edwards has declared.

As Edwards expressed bewilderment that the chief executive was under public pressure after 12 years at the helm, a belligerent Sutherland lashed out at the suggestion, made by former captain Ricky Ponting, that CA had failed to invest in the national team during its glory years.

The pair was speaking after CA's annual general meeting, at which members were given a rosy picture of the game's financial health.

Also at the AGM, Sutherland said he was "confident we are on the right track" in returning the Test team to the top of the world

That would be a decent compromise. The shield didn't need international flavour in the past due to the test class players playing so much first class cricket. Now due to neglect I think we might need it for at least the next 5 or more years.

Imagine how much better out young bowlers would be having to bowl at and dismissing a batsman the class of a Pallid or Pietersen.
