For discussion on the Sheffield Shield Final.

Victoria vs Queensland at Junction Oval St Kilda

Well documented that it's not at the MCG cuz that's being used for a Bushfire Victims benefit concert.

Wonder if playing the Final at a suburban ground will make a difference in how the match is played as in how will the wicket play?

how will qld get themselves up for this game, after getting belted for 800, if the vics bat first it could be all over very quickly.

If Queensland take that same attack they don't stand a chance. To be any chance they need Noffke, Harris and one of Swann or Cutling to be fit. Sadly even if Noffke was fit he would be lacking match fitness just like Harris. Really Victoria's game to lose.

What odds the pitch at the Junction Oval being a road...therefore the match will be a draw, and Victoriania win by default

I know this might be wishful thinking but I think roads should be banned and that wickets have to be prepared so that they give a fair contest between bat and ball. Matches played on roads are as boring as batsh*t

Have to agree, South Africa would have to be the only country that does'nt go out of there way to produce "roads", seriously who wants to see to see teams getting 600 & 700 like England & West Indies did in Barbados?

You don't get many roads in England or New Zealand either. probably cuz you don't really get the heat in those countries to bake the wicket.

They also want the pitch to last 5 days, a good batting pitch does that

The MCG wicket has been perfect for 4 day cricket this year, good for batting but enough in it for good bowlers but obviously this week was flattened out to let us practice for the 5 day match coming up

But the fact is whilst all the finals pitches are always good batting pitches, they still get results

Starts tomorrow.

Unless I'm mistaken it's on Live on Fox Sports.

Also wonder if Victoria will win anything this summer. So far they've been in both the Ford Ranger Cup Final and the KFC Twenty20 Big Bash Final and have come back empty handed both times.

Dirk Nannes, Shane Harwood and Clint McKay are fit to play for Victoria

Victoria Squad: 1 Nick Jewell, 2 Chris Rogers, 3 Brad Hodge, 4 David Hussey, 5 Cameron White, 6 Rob Quiney, 7 Matthew Wade, 8 Damien Wright, 9 Clint McKay, 10 Shane Harwood, 11 Dirk Nannes, 12 Lloyd Mash.

Queensland squad: Ryan Broad, Nick Kruger, Martin Love, Shane Watson, Andrew Symonds, Lee Carseldine, James Hopes, Chris Hartley (wk), Chris Simpson (capt), Daniel Doran, Ben Cutting, Nathan Rimmington, Ben Laughlin.

Victoria won the toss and have elected to bat.

Funny how they have appointed umpires from the competing states for this match

Laughlin bowls a good shape but he only bowls at McDonalds pace

he averages about 125 ks

pretty slow for an opening bowler
