Left-hander Robinson showed a poor sense of occasion by reaching his 178-ball century with two successive fours off the bowling of Steven Smith, raising his bat just after 3pm as spectators gathered around any nearby radios or TV screens to watch the Melbourne Cup. "Brett Dorey actually notified me ... that it was about 200 metres to go when I brought it up," Robinson said of his century which came with successive boundaries off Smith.

"So the boys got to come back out and they missed the end, which is unlucky for them."

Robinson said he had the unplaced Viewed and the scratching Changingoftheguard in a Cup sweep.
