The sport's International Federation, meeting in Leeds, decided to leave the matter in the hands of each league.

Newcastle scrum-half Andrew Johns set the precedent of registering with two different clubs by joining Warrington for the last month of the season.

Adrian Morley and Sione Faumuina joined Bradford and Hull on similar deals. The Federation said: "The registration of players in more than one domestic competition in the same season (should be) addressed by each nation discussing the issue autonomously with the aim of forming their own rules."

Scrap the concept alltogeather. Can you imagine being the British junior or whatever who gets dumped for some import who's only going to play 2 or 3 games?

That's a pretty big "non-decision". Leaving it up to each league individually means the issue will never be co-ordinated and sorted.

Guess they've put it in the too hard basket until the adjust the length of the seasons in line with the World Cup and new TV deals?

It will be interesting to see if Johns has any long-term effect on Wire this season.

Anyway, no surprises, the International Federation doesn't have any real authoriity.

I think it's good and bad

Someone like Johns or Morely can come into a squad and perhaps teach the squad new training techniques and perhaps help out the developing juniors. It also gets NRL talent a taste of the ESL other then the extra money while over. I mean, Faumuina was linked to stay with Hull and Morely would like to return to the ESL... so it's not all bad.

But I do see the negatives when someone like Graham Appo was forced out of the squad to make way for Johns... as well as the whole squad repostitioning him.

I think it should be up to the club. While Johns helped the short term effect, some players may not like being shifted and could jepodise their club loyality. So really clubs are playing with fire
