Payn Haas's management are reportedly asking for 1m a season. Given that Sims on 800k and maybe other players such as Jack Bird may be off to another club. Should the Dragons opt to sign Haas.

A Su'A / Hass edge forward combo would be just what the Dragons need.
You would be wrong on all your Dragon assumptions.
A prop for a $1 mill..no. I would sign him for would he would be currently on $800 +

No we shouldn’t Sing him for 1 mil. We should sign him for 2 mil!!!! He is the best prop in the NRL by far, is a NSW player and is only young. Far from lazy and can play big minutes with great impact

Nicky baby will make sure some significant big forward is signed up for 2023 to replace Taukeiaho when he goes to Super League next year and also when Waerea-Hargreaves retires maybe the following year. They will have Cheese Smith at Hooker on big money and will pay good money for Haas I'd say (the amounts payable will be dependent on how big they can get paper bags from Woolies).

It is a no brainer with the Roosters. When their stocks need replenishing they get their man/men. They probably have their eyes on alert for a fullback to replace Teddy when he is ready to retire in 3-4 years time that's how far in advance they tend to work.

We on the other hand just twiddle and suck thumbs.
All the more reason to offer Haas a contract now. If he wants to knock it back then so be it, we can't do anything about that however, we owe it to the Dragons Fans to try to improve our squad.

Sims and possibly Brid gone seems the right time for us to sign a player like Haas. At the very least it will keep the Roosters honest because it will establish a market price making it difficult for the Roosters to do their usual low cap big paper bag deal.

No prop is worth 10% of the cap. Look at how spending more than that on a half back has left us stretched to field a team of capable players.

We lack pulling power now as a lowly club the last little while but I think he'd be the perfect recruit when moving Sims on. 850k take it or leave it.

we also had Norman on big money then which was part of the problem for me grab him if possible but the rorter's will get him.

So if you want someone, you just sign them? Yeah, like no one else would be after him. He wouldn't sign with us anyway.

Possm, Bird ain't going anywhere and is likely to re-sign.

Haas, if he goes anywhere, it will be at the Roosters, probably to replace Taukeiaho

But what if he accepts our offer and the club doesn't really want him?
Sims, Bird, and one year later Hunt all will move on. We'll have the cap or make room for Haas because he will add a lot of value to our pack.

IBy the way our reserve grade is performing, we don't really look to have the depth we believe we have.

In 2023, a prop rotation of Haas, Woods, Burgess, and Molo would be fantastic. No more soft under-belly and no more running one out from dummy-half. Each of the above players can defend well and when they run with the ball, can bend the line and also have an off-load. They are the big boppers we need in the front row.

I rate Haas. I think he has the potential, work ethic and physical presence to be one of, if not the greatest prop of all time.

But when you pay $1m for a prop, it throws your entire cap out of balance. The glaring deficit in our roster is at 9. We need to be able to recruit with strong offers in that position. Paying too much in other positions will mean that we are unable to be competitive for a first class hooker. And in the future, we will find ourselves in a similar situation when we need to recruit or retain in other key positions.

He is young, a big unit with impact. We dont have many of those in our engine room. Like some have said he can become lazy so needs revving up to perform at his best. Do we have anyone to do that. Other thing is his cost , $1m. Griffin and his recruiting team dont exactly fancy digging deep into the piggy bank as was the case with most of our recent recruits.
