Changed the thread name to re-sign as I believe that is what the OP intended.

I reckon McCullough is one of the most overrated players, at least by the Broncos organisation. He is dead set just an average player, good defender but has nothing in attack.

Would love to send him packing but not sure if we have anyone suitable to replace him. I just hope Parcell and/or the Nikorima's get some kind of chance this year to put pressure on him.

You would imagine though that Bennett holds him in high regards, letting him captain the side in England.

macca was good last year, or maybe it was the year before (?). anyway, aside from one season he's just plodded along. unfortunately granville couldnt get a go due to a former coach and now we've lost him. unless someone else is around we might have to re-sign him. i do think his attack is improving though

I wouldn't mind if Manly forced our hand here and tabled a good offer to McCullough. Even though we don't have a clear replacement, getting someone new and unheard of may be what we need. We have been persevering with Andrew for a long time now and he does not look to be improving.

With the #9 being such a pivotal role in the modern game you can't afford to have a passenger such as McCullough. Willing to endure pain as we blood someone new in the role, if we stick with McCullough we know what were going to get for the next 7 odd years.

Just such a meh player. Not a bad player but it issue rare that a team with an average 9 goes anywhere near the top 4. Last year that especially ran true. My preference is he is wonderful depth but we shouldn't bother if he leaves. Put it this way if he gets an offer anymore than we offer, I'll be very annoyed if we match it.

His defense is great and when he's active in attack we look really good. Unfortunately he does that maybe once every 3 games but his performance is dependent on the rest of the pack.

That sounds almost exactly the same way people would describe Peter Wallace a few years ago.

And it's those exact same reasons we need to get rid of McCullough.

I always thought he would turn into a player like Smith, but so far hasn't panned out that way. Seems to be turning into more of an Ennis style hooker (without the grubbiness of course). Doesn't have the ball playing or kicking skills. We would definitely benefit by a proper ball player/attacking threat at hooker, not too many good ones available though. Someone like Friend/Segeyaro would be ideal.

Willing to give him another year to change my mind though

I agree with the above McCullough is a good defender but is ordinary in attack. This was especially highlighted whenever Granville got a run last year.

Eh I thought he had a really strong game tonight against the Cowboys.

It's all well and good to day he's just a defensive player but that role means so much to us - he's the leader of ouR team in the middle, the one leading the kick chase and the one pushing our defensive line forward.

He's no Luke/Farah with his running game but I think he's picking his chances more wisely. Kicking game is improving too. Nikorima off the bench gives us a good balance.
