Vella and Wagon as well as Witt were very dissapointing in again a high pressure match for us

Peterson again like Mckinnon, showed he was out there to win-what a pity that our coach and the other players are not showing the same guts and positive attitude.

Smithys comments after the game to say that the warriors slowed the game down too much was vomit material- how much ball did we have?
and his persistance in WAgon at 5/8 and keeping Vella as well as allowing our centres to stay the same without blooding Mateo or another young future player means he has no faith in our juniors-not enough to give them a go now we are out of serious running for the finals.

Most of all i felt sad our team could not have played and tried better- because i feel they are a better team than they are showing but we need changes and Smithy is doing it all wrong again.

I have a suggestion.

Every monday after the weekend of footy a topic should be started titled "Game First's Weekly Rant".

There you can express as many opinions as you like instead of starting up a new thread every time you have something to say.

Sideshow does try his best, however he is not as talented as most wingers in the competition. A passionate player yes, a great footballer no.

Eels dude- if a player can be that good on passion alone-as you seem to think-which is wrong anyway- then how come every single game he stands out while other more so called skillfull-less passionate do nothing and contribute little-playing with heart like Pricey did works for some players- and the way he finishes of tries- could not see Burt or Grothe being that deadly in getting the try- look at his try record.

Anyway, eels dude- you have tried your best in this arguement and lost- but at least you tried buddy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SOrry but eels dud is roght Sideshows biggest asset is his passion out there and it does get him all his tries. I would definately rate GURU as the better win but in saying that I think you will find ash graham will be dropped if and when guru jnr comes back this sesason.

oh yeahs and Game First you are a goose

Game First, one try doesn't mean he is a terrific player as you seem to think. I have no doubt he is very passionate, and I think the club needs more players like that. However he makes a lot of costly errors, often a few mis-reads in defence. For every good thing he does he makes a mistake as well. I really think you are wrong when you say Peterson stands out. He is passionate and works hard, but it can only do so much.

Grothe, my friend has been one of the "deadliest" try-scorers this year. He has created many tries from simply nothing. Please don't compare Peterson's skills to Grothe, you're just insulting yourself.

Mckinnon has been excellent all year-every game- but Peterson has also been good every time i have seen him-we need these type of players who play really hard and play with emotion>

By the way Eels dude- i like Grothe, but he also makes mistakes in defence and handling while Peterson has scored 6 tries this year as well as a swag last year- while Grothe started okay- he did cost us Cronullas game with an unnecesary offload and is always injured like last year at the roosters!

So Peterson has scored than the odd try eels dude- and had one disallowed v warriors last sat. night where it should have been awarded- Grothe may have not as quickley twisted and burrowed to score a try like that!

That move although not successfull v Warriors is almost a patended move by Petersen

He has scored 23 tries for the Eels (3 in 2002, 14 in 2003 and 6 in 2004) of those I'd say about 10 were scored with that move.

Grothe has scored 7 tries this year, and that's from about 9 or 10 games. Every single one of those tries showed some individual brilliance. They weren't simply catch and dive efforts. Not many other wingers in the comp could have scored them. Peterson isn't as quick as most other wingers. As Hurriflatch said, he scores a lot of tries from the same movements. As a supporting winger he is not as strong.

And Grothe wouldn't have had to twist and burrow, he would have stormed right over them and planted the ball down.
