If hodgo wasn't in first grade I think greally would be there. He is in the form of his career and is not only dominant in attack, but also very safe in defense and under the high ball. Last week he turned an attacking bulldogs grubber into a balmain tigers try and numerous times this season he has broken long breaks down the field through great acceleration and elusiveness. His best asset is his comfort and confidence at first division level. He started first division trying to do too much but has matured into a patient, consistent fullback. I think he could potentially be played on the wing in first grade, even though the duffy experiment didn't work out when the same thing was tried with him. In my opinion, Greally has more pace then duffy and is a more eager defender, thus making him more suited to the wing position then duffy.

Yesterday was the first time i`d had a good look at Greally and I was very impressed.I noticed he`s very quick, eager to get involved and doesn`t shy away from the defence although he appears to be fairly small.Does anyone know his height, weight?

I don't really think Simon is suited to the wing - he is a specialist fullback and VERY good at it, but I agree we will almost certainly have to play him there.

I don't want to risk losing him to the club, we will end up paying for it if we do but the simple fact is hodgo is in the form of his career and looks like he will own the fullback spot for years to come.

Simon is only 18 still while hodgo is 26 (I think?) so in reality he will still only be about 22 when hodgson is winding up - we just need to find a way to keep him around until then and not see him leave looking for new oppertunities.

Which means he will have to be brought into the first grade squad somewhere and I think wing looks to be the most likely spot.

lol nah I'm not that close to any of the players and simons a little young and blonde for me ;-)

You're right though - he is on the small side but, much like hodgo, he's bloody tough and holds up well.

I actually rate him a very similar style of player to Hodgson so in that respect I can't think of anyone better for him to serve his apprenticeship under

To be honest I don't think Simon is ready for the jump into the top grade yet!

He really dosn't show any form of urgency and his positional play of late has been very up and down

In saying that his defence and attack is great

I think IF Hodgo was selected for the 2nd or 3rd SOO that Duffy would probably fill the void if not move Fitzy at the back and put Dene in the centers

I tell you what he is a speedy bugger i reckon he could match it with most of the speedsters in the game. I reckon he would be a special for a wing spot if we are unfortunate to lose a winger to injury

He is great on his feet.Probably moreso than Hodgson.Other than that the 2 of them are so similar its not funny.

Yeah......during half time in the WT game Greally was signing 1-2 autograph's.
And must admit I seemed to be towering over him!
Then again I suppose me being 6 foot 4' and 130kgs.Makes me bigger than most. #-o
