is he ever going to make it????

i have been hearing how promising he is for ages, before i'd ever heard of players like Marshell, Harrison, Farah, Halatu and Fulton and now all these guys seemed to of passed him, and with Hodgeson at the club and a few wingers around, i don't know if he will ever step up

what do you guys think

He will push very hard for a regular wing spot this season, but as you said, there is plenty of competition!

Yes

he's younger than most of those you mentioned (harrison and fulton being the exceptions) so I wouldn't read too much into the others making first grade before him. Hodgo at the club has also meant he has had to wait longer to gain a first grade spot but he is still a kid - he will push very strongly for a wing spot this year (everything I've heard says he's not expected to play much P/L) so this should be his breaking year.

If he doesn't make it into the wests side this year he probably will leave the club - but if that happens I don't doubt he will play first grade elsewhere

I actually fear he could be the next Steve Turner, but in saying that it looks like Sheens thinks he can't leave the kid out because he is good enough hence why they have been trialing him on the wing and why many within Balmain apperantly have been told that he won't be playing much for Balmain this year

He is already the best option come round 1 for the wing spot vacated by Moodie's retirement.

yeah I think he's got to be the favourite at this point

noone else stands out and he looked good on saturday - a couple more strong trials should seal it

Reick and Miles are sposed to be starters for the black and whites so he might be in with a chance. You never know with Lord Sheens though do you...

If Greally is the favourite for the wing spot, why is he not there this weekend?? It doesnt make a lot of sense.

although the fact that he wasn't named in the WT team isn't promising it is possible that he wasn't named simply because he will be on display on the day anyway and sheens wants a look at the players who wouldn't otherwise be playing

I agree things don't look good after the release of this team for simon starting the year in first grade (although i still believe he will FINISH the year there) but then again you never know - reick is wests contracted so maybe sheens just wanted to make sure he got another look at him (and fitzy) on the wing before he made up his mind

Yeah true, Rieck should have first crack, its only fair. From what i saw of Simon tonight though, there's no reason why he wont finish the reason in first grade. Was glad to see he's bulked up somewhat too.

yeah simon looked pretty good, imo it wont be long before he replaces reick (he's fast and he can finish off a try but until he learns to let in less than he scores...)
