Can someone please clarify for me the sin bin options?
I have a recollection that when the sin bin was first introduced all those years ago there was an option available to the referee to impose EITHER a 5min or a 10min penalty. Was that the case? Is it still an option?
It seems that every game there is a at least one penalty given (usually for slowing the play the ball) against the defending team when their line is being threatened. Most times this negates the attack and with it any chance of scoring a try. The refs havent sin binned for this offence for years - until Minichiello copped it.
A 5 minute sin bin would be the ideal penalty dont you think?
