Well, personally, id rather Darren Beadman's opinion ... and he tips Mnemosyne. Beadman said she's the closest thing to Octagonal he's ridden in many years because she refuses to give up. But Fashions Afield will get a HUGE start in the money stakes because she's eligible for the Magic Millions (only horses sold through the Queensland sales are eligible for this race) and Mnemosyne is not. Singo wants the Magic Millions to be a group 1 race , but unless they make it open class and horses outside Qld eligible, then he's barking up the wrong tree imo. Magic Millions will never be a group 1 unless its Australia-wide.

Hilarious to think that Fashions Afield will have virtually zero competition, and yet will easily pocket the $1 million prizemoney, and yet better horses are refused entry to this race.

This is one of the many problems with racing imo. It's too easy to earn a sh*tload in certain cases.

I agree it shapes as an easy kill for FA, but I think the concept of the Magic Millions is good. As you say, it needs to be open if it is to be a Group 1, but I'd prefer to see it stay as it is.

Funny how Fashions Afield got beaten this weekend at Doomben as an unbackable favourite ... but gee shes so classy you just have to put that down to coming off a spell really wouldnt you ? Some blamed the jockey, but young horses really need a few races to get their stuff together so it was a bit unfair on Danny Beasley imo. Shes a young horse and needs time, but by the time the magic millions comes aroud she'll DESTROY the competition EASILY.

Fashions Afield and Mnemosyne ... these two horses will have a GREAT rivalry over the years imo, and will both do superbly ... and the scary thing is that they're just turning 3.

Look at this years 2 year olds, and quite frankly theyve got nothing on these two.
