The pomms have decieded to knight John Wilkinson, because he won them a world cup. This is unbelievable.

They have not won jack shit for 30 years and when they do, they make a hero out of the bloke that wins the game for them.

Can you imagine if we made a knight out of every one who won the Aussies a world cup in the last 5 years.

Rugby League, Rugby Union, Cricket, Davis Cup, Tennis and Hockey and the list would go on forever.

We would have so many knghts, we would need a round table the size of the SCG.

I guess by the law of averages, they had to win one eventually.

What a joke. Are they giving Martin Johnson any sort of award? I'd feel stiffed if I was him, It was the English forwards, lead by Johnson that won them the wold cup, not Wilkinson. He may kick the goals, but they are the ones who put the ball in his hands in the right position on the paddock to be able to kick them.
Still league's no better, we've got the fine tradition of giving the Dally M to a halfback every bloody year even when a forward really should have got it. Johns instead of Kennedy in 2001, Noddy instead of Nikau in '99... bloody glamour boys. :roll:

Your well on your way to becoming a Republic so the Aussies 'Sirs' won't be 'sirs' any longer so it wouldnt really matter. I too think it is over the top but the award isn't for the RWC, it was decided well before the tournement for his services to union.
