Six Nations Tournament

Those Rugby League fans who view an international structure as being vital for the future of our game must be looking forward to a proposed 6 nations tournament which is likely to come out with the publication of the Rugby Football League's Strategic Commision.

When and where such a tournament would fit into the RL season is as yet unknown, although it looks likely that such a tournament will be held in January and February between the challenge cup rounds, but also on the same weekends as the RU six nations tournament.. It also looks likely that the six nations will be split, with England, Ireland and Scotland in one group, with Wales, France and Russia in the other. Matches in England's group are likely to be held in the north of England, whilst the other group games will be take place in France.

The winners of each group will go forward to tournament finale.

The thought of England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, France, and Russia playing each other each season is surely another step in the right direction for the development of the game in the home countries and Europe.
