i've got the socks and the full length top.
i trained all season for RL in them and it helped me warm up quicker and stay warm (also you don't seem to get as cold when you warm down either).
it somehow helps with moisture/sweat (keeps you dryer) too.
i also used both the socks & top during the games until i was told the long sleve tops were banned. but the socks seemed to stop my late match cramping! i ended up wearing the socks under my footy sock all year!

TBH i've never really used them to 'recover' as such, more when i'm competing or training.
but i rate them highly.

getting the bike shorts soon, expensive but worth it if you're serious about your sport.

i also have the 'BSC' branded compression clothes, told it does the same job and skins brand and its usually a bit cheaper. also BSC sponsors manly too :D

They are designed to be used through competing or training. The compression supposedly reduces the amount of lactic acid build up in the muscles and increasing blood flow during exercise, thus reducing the amount of time needed to recover.

I've been looking at these for a while, but I don't really see a need unless you are doing some form of competition or training for an event, i.e. marathon/city-to-surf.

I wear the shorts when I work out and find them very comfortable as opposed to just wearing boxers/briefs. Reduces the chaffing factor.

I have some Nike ones (short and long leg) that I got cheap when I was in the states as well as some Skins branded ones and have really found little difference in those top branded ones when compared to the Diadora ones I have bought at K-Mart.

They have to be tight to be effective though, so make sure you get the correct sizing.

Thinking of getting a pair of short leg ones soon, due to getting crazy chaffing these days. I previously refused to wear them because everyone got them and I thought it was all just $90 for a placebo effect, but we did some work on it yesterday in PE and my teacher explained how they actually do work so I'm convinced.

Wondering is there much difference between BSc ones and Skins? BSc are like $30 cheaper if I remember correctly and not everyone wears them.

I wear the shorts, use to wear the skins but now just wear some generic branded ones and honestly have not noticed a difference, except maybe the generic ones the logo faded quicker.
This maybe slighjty off topic but if anyone out there plays touch or oztag and suffers from blisters, get yourself a pair of synthetic socks. I use to get bad blisters wearing cotton socks, a friend of mine works at athletes foot and she got me a pair of synthetics and I haven't had a blister since. Synthetic socks wick away the moisture when your feet start sweating. Once cotton gets wet, it stays wet, bunches up and can cause blisters. Cotton doesn’t hold up well to washing, easily loses its shape and becomes abrasive.

kk. yea.. just checked it out.. cheers.

Be careful with those charts though, they're only there as a guide. I bought a pair of skins a couple of months ago after trying some on, and it turned out I was a size smaller than I thought I was going to be from the chart

I've also got a pair of Bsc socks which I wear after long runs, they are great at preventing calf cramps, shin splints and the like. However, wearing them while running (especially in a race) will make you look quite gay, and is therefore not recommended...

Yeah recommended. I’ve been using the shorts for about two years when I go on long runs. Might have to try these socks. The sizing chart on the Skins box worked fine for me too.

I've got full length legs, long shorts, shirts, sleeveless, and long sleeved.

The only thing I notice about them is that they are super comfortable and they help regulate your body temp to comfortable levels. Noticed this when I was running and felt very cool and dry.

As for the other features, I don't really believe in them.

Do people find any difference between the different styles of compression shorts, as in the ones that sit on your hips compared to the ones that go right up just below your navel? I always wore hipster style ones in the past (mostly for chafing compared to any athlectic advantage) since they tended to fit more like underwear.

I got a pair of the higher sitting ones a week ago and they seem to work far better. They don't slip down during training which for my needs is a big plus.
