Wigan Select team beat London Skolars 70-6 today in The City of London. Game was played on a narrowed pitch with 10 a side, due to poor pitch conditions.

The sons of Ellery Hanley & Paul Sculthorpe both played for Wigan

Even though the opposition wasn’t great the Wigan youngsters were outstanding, 4 or 5 from last years under 16.
Remember the name Matt Nicholson, a lick forward who has got everything to go a long way.
Hanley is still only 17 and is a tremendous prospect and Havard is ready for SL now.

I thought this match in previous years had been Wigan v the Broncos? Why the change to playing Skolars?

It started as Skolars vs Broncos, but Wigan replaced the Broncos from 2014 onwards. Always send down a team of Reserves/Academy lads, with a couple of fringe players to add leadership.

So Wigan haven’t played the Broncos at the HAC before in the Capital Challenge?

Wigan v Leeds was quite a good standard considering the conditions. 4 props, 2 from each team impressed me the most. Bullock & Byrne for Wigan and Holroyd & Oledzki for the Rhinos.
