Dark Match
Scotty 2 Hotty vs Paul Birchill (with William Regal)
Scotty keeps control for the majority of the match, Birchill getting some huge heat, I try to start a 'Do the C4' chant but nobody knew what the hell i was talking about. The end came when Scotty went for the worm and before hitting the karate chop Birchill hits a drop toehold into the second rope, then rolls Scotty up for the finish.
Winner: Paul Birchill

Chris Benoit vs Christian
Orlando Jordan comes out before the match can even start and said that he refuses to be in history as the man who tapped in less than 30 seconds on multiple occasions, he then comes to the ring and beats Benoit down; Christian exits the ring. Eventually both Christian and OJ are beating on him and Booker T comes down to make the save. The referee decided to make it into a tag team match.

Chris Benoit and Booker T (with Sharmell T) vs Christian and Orlando Jordan
Pretty much a typical Smackdown! tag team match, the end came when Orlando knocked Benoit off the rope for the headbutt and Christian hit an Unprettier, Booker T was laid out outside.
Winners: Christian and Orlando Jordan

Backstage
Stacy and Christy are backstage and I'm drooling, Batista walks up and startles them. Next Batista sees Simon Dean trying to sell a protein shake to an agent, Batista hits Dean on the back and he spits the shake all over the agent, Dean turns around like 'what the hell?' and sees Batista - quickly changing his attitude. Batista takes the shake and walks off drinking it.

In the ring
Theo Long and Cannon Palmer are in the ring ready to name a new number one contender. They bring Batista out and Long says that the man he is going to name a family man the contender, a high-flyer, and a man on a hot streak. Palmer cuts Long off right before he announces who and says "EDDIE GUERRERO!" Guerrero comes out and says that he overcame all his addictions, etc. He said when he beat Mysterio last week he finally overcame his addiction to manipulation and said he would no longer lie, cheat, and steal. Eddie says to Batista that just because they're going to fight, doesn't mean they need to be enemies. Eddie tries to get on Batista's good side and gets ready to shake Batista's hand, Batista says "Friends don't shake hands . . . we hug!" The two embrace with Guerrero having a both evil and confused look on his face, Batista has a smartass look as well.

Tag Team Championship: LOD (Road Warrior Animal and Heidenreich) vs. MNM (Joey Mercury and Johnny Nitro, with Melina)
Melina's entrance is even better in real life.

The match was pretty much what you would expect between these two teams, the end came when Mercury (I believe it was him) hit Heidenreich with the belt.
Winners: LOD (Road Warrior Animal and Heidenreich) via DQ

Backstage
Theo Long and Palmer are having a bit of an argument backstage, Eddie is really happy about his contendership.

Backstage
The Ortons are backstage next to a U-Haul, Bob says he has a suprise for Randy tonight, and the Undertaker will die.

JBL vs. Rey Mysterio
The match was very entertaining, real back-and-forth, Rey won after hitting the 619 and a standing Lionsault.
Winner: Rey Mysterio
On a side note, Rey has new entrance music.

Backstage
Nunzio is backstage complaining that he hasn't had a single match on Smackdown since winning the cruiserweight championship, Eddie (who is still kissing up) strikes the idea of champion vs. champion: Batista vs Nunzio. Palmer says the network would love to see all the champions and makes the match.

Backstage
Josh Matthews attempts to interview JBL but to no avail. Ken Kennedy comes up and said that the media peeps always focus on the negative - time for the positive. Kennedy tells Josh he needs to change his cologne - no wait - he needs to change his underpants! Kenedy tells Josh that he smells like Arkansas and the arena erupts.

Ken Kennedy vs Unknown Jobber
Kennedy wins after his second rope steamroller.
Winner: Ken Kennedy

Champion vs Champion: Batista vs Nunzio
And we're blessed with another squash match. Batista wins with the Batista Bomb.
Winner: Batista

Backstage
JBL asks the fixer, Jillian Hall for help, she says she hopes she can work something out.

Undertaker vs Randy Orton
This match was awesome, Orton crotches taker after an attempt to hit the old school and hits Taker with his fathers's finishing move - the superplex. Orton calls for Bob to come out and out comes Bob Orton and the U-Haul. Bob opens the truck and camera men swarm out of it. (On a funny side note, the guy in front of me said "Damn, the camera men are like maggots, they're coming from everywhere!"
icon_lol.gif
) Inside the U-Haul is a CASKET! Taker and Orton fight outside the ring and Taker is about to put Orton in the casket. Undertaker opens the casket and . . . there's a wax Undertaker inside! Taker and Orton duke it out more in the ring and the ref is out, Orton hits an RKO and a new referee comes out, Taker kicked out at 'Thr', I got pissed thinking he lost. Taker chokeslams Orton and does the Darkness pin, but Bob pulls the ref out. Finally Taker hit the tombstone on Orton and the original ref got the fall.
Winner: The Undertaker

Sounds like a good Smackdown, then again you'd expect that considering this is the opposition PPVs week.

I'm glad about Guerrero being handed the No.1 Contendership.

Im with you Pete, im very glad they handed the No.1 Contendership to Guerrero. I'm glad that the world title match on Smackdown wont be a big guy verse another big guy. Guerrero vs Batista is new, is fresh and potentially could have a good build up not to mention what should be a solid match.

Looks like JBL has gone away from the Title arena, with him taking on Rey-Rey. Both wrestlers dont have feuds, so they may be involved in one soon to come.

I can see a fatal four way for the U.S Title coming. Benoit vs OJ vs Christian vs Booker.

Smackdown is looking fairly solid at the moment.

Sounds infinitely better than this week's atrocious RAW. Eddie and Batista should be able to do some great stuff together (I thought the same would be true of Kurt and Cena, heh). Will be looking forward to this.

I like the idea of the fatal 4 way for the US strap, but personally I cant see it happening, as Benoit and Booker are building some sort of a friendship at the moment, so I think it may be someone different in the the match rather than Booker...perhaps Rey or maybe Orton, I dunno, but I think definitely Benoit, Jordan *shudder* and Christian, hopefully they do add someone else to the mix. Aslong as it isn't Bradshaw, I'll be happy :D

There was a segment last week where Ken Kennedy said that wasn't it weired that Booker T hadn't got a shot at the I.C title and why Benoit hasn't given him one if they are "good friends". He was speaking to Sharmell.

So that might be some indication.

I'm stoked that they're giving Kennedy a real push, even if he's only beating jobbers this week. A bit disappointed that Burchill was a dark match.

I recently saw footage from 2001 from one episode of Smackdown and it really surpirsed me to see the likes of the Hardy Boyz with Lita taking on the Power Trip (HHH and SCSA) with Stephanie McMahon. What also surpirsed me was that they actually have you believe the Hardy Boyz could win, infact they would have them dominate which is something that is missing.

Though this is a bit off topic however what happened to those days where you had no idea who'd win where main events meant a damn and you would have no idea who'd win or if they did win it would set things up. That's what WWE is missing at the moment, that ability to push stars like that. Now it's usually the same old wrestler grabs the tights, or some kind of interference.

If the WWE ever wants to get some more interest we need good main events. Smackdown so far has done a good job, these main events mean something which is good but they have to keep it up.

Next week you could have Batista vs. Rey Mysterio. How would this match work? Simple have Teddy Long announce it as the main event because of his win over JBL. Then all night just hype the guy, have him talking to his family, or talking to Batista or some Latino wrestlers. Then for the Main Event give Mysterio some real momentum, make him exploit Batistas weaknesses logically (Using his speed and so on) and give him the near victory with Batista just having too much for the win.

It would push both stars IMO, Batista would be involved in a better match with more heart and passion while Mysterio would of nearly won the match. Next week I'd put on a US Title match as the main event, just give it a lot of importance and boom, you'd capture the crowds imagination again, something that the WWE has lacked doing for so many years.

Just my thoughts.

Good thoughts Big Pete. At the moment for the last 3 weeks Smackdown has had a better show! RAW is just too predictable and every main event is a handicap mactch with the champion winning, so much so that I did not even bother watching this weeks RAW after Trish's return!
