Reported that Kevin McGuinness has been linked to Wests Tigers. All I can say is I hope not simply because we have some good young centres in Harrison, Collis, Viane, Alberts, Wara and Pangai coming through the lower grades. Bringing McGuinness back is a retrograde step and sends the wrong message to our the juniors.

and not likely to play for either

The situation seems to be that manly want to get rid of him and offload his contract to someone else

he wants to come back to wests even if it means playing for the magpies but for that to happen the wests tigers would have to take over his contract - which they are unlikely to do for a player who would be a fringe first grader at best

sheens has said he thinks the centres are our strongest position - I doubt he's planning on signing another

This is how it all unfolded. Manly officials contacted McGuinness' manager last friday to inform him that he is no longer wanted at Manly, for reasons that are still not sure. Apparently they told his manager that he no longer fits into their plans, and as a result has been terminated from the 1st Grade squad.

It's been reported in the SMH and in a local newspaper in Campbelltown-Liverpool area that he wants to return home, but with Manly not wanting to release him due to their financial position, he has 3 real options.

The First being, he plays premier league for 2 years, after being informed that he is officialy no longer apart of the 1st Grade squad. This is something he does not want to do, any right minded footballer would understand. you don't play 160 odd 1st Grade game, getting paid big $$$ to sit and play in Reserve's.

The Second option is that an NRL club comes to the rescue and is willing to buy his remaining 2 year contract off Manly. Sounds like the best alternative, but does not look like becoming a reality due to his manager not alerting clubs that he is on the outer at Manly.

The Third option is England. Manly have told him that the only way they will release him, is to an English club. By that, his contract will be handed over to the club that snaps him up. His manager has contacted several English club's and he is now waiting in anticipation to see where his future will lie for this year and next season anyway.

He's pretty upset about the recent events that have taken place over the past week. I'm shattered. A player of his talent and ability does not deserve to be lost to the NRL.

I'm just hoping, that when clubs do find out that he has been transfered to England, they do express some interest in him, similar to the Nick Graham scenario that took place last year, when Anderson and the Sharks club released him, and then a few months laster after the June 30 deadline, he was snapped up by Wests.

I would think that Manly telling him he is not wanted is sufficient reason for him to stay and prove that he is NRL standard. The good $ that he must be receiving and the cold English weather are two others good reasons!

I would have though a club like souths could use him...

The worrying thing for Buddha would be that he is unable to make one of the weaker centre combos in the comp...
