We certainly had our chances against the Premiers last Saturday night, and with a bit better execution on some plays we may have jagged the match. We fought hard all the way and certainly gave them a rugged contest. We started really well and constant pressure led to 2 great tries from forwards who were dominant on Saturday night. It was Mick Vella’s first try of the year and he showed both strength and speed tog et over the line, while Hindy’s effort on the back of some rapid ball movement again highlighted the physical strength that he has shown us all year.Tries just before, and just after halftime seemed to give them an extra leg, and although it didn’t knock the stuffing out of our team, it put us on the back foot from where we were only scrambling, unable to get a crack on them with either possession or field position. The fact that we were able to score the last try of the match shows to me that our team never gives up, and is trying right to the end…a commodity that does win games of football. We take the trip over the ditch this weekend to take on the Warriors over in Auckland. It is hard to line up their form because in recent weeks they seem to be a totally different side when they are playing at home. It has been a while since our team song was sung in the sheds at Ericcson Stadium, and I think Saturday night is about time that changed.
