So what was the REAL reason why Lyon left?

I've been a lurker on these boards for ages and I know some of you have direct contact with the Eels coaching staff and players themselves. I know we all hate Lyon for what he did to us (we've been left relatively bare in our backline). However if you think about it Lyon must have had a really big problem with the club to give up his big money contract. He chose to fly half way around the world rather than joining the Eels again so it must have been something serious (or not?). Does anybody know the "real" reason from first hand sources on why he left?

Also maybe this might be a blessing in disguise. With Lyon leaving this year the Eels have had more money to spend under the cap aided by the mass clear out of fringe players. I know it's obvious but this has been our recruitment in a while and maybe Lyon freeing up some of that money had something to do with it.

I have contacts inside the club. Each is always on song with rumours etc. I choose not to spread them as I dont want to be another GAME FIRST. But Lyon is on a big salary at St Helens. He got paid 110000 or sumthin like that for 1 game and the offseason. He is pure scum and his true reason was a disliking of Smith. Smith dumped a whole lot of shit in front of the players and apparently it was bound to happen. He had not enjoyed the offseaosn and begun to miss chasing pigs.

I think he doesn't understand that having a fulltime job that pays big bucks means you don't get to hang out with you buddies all day every day.....I have no doubt the entire episode was all about getting to Manly to be with the Cleals.
