Sent an e-mail to mario today regarding a few things to do with create a player. My e-mail in italics his reply in bold.

Hi Mario,
Hows it going? Sorry to bother you but just a couple of quick questions
regarding create a player.
1.How many different faces are there?
2.How many different hairstyles are there?
3.Can the give all the attributes maximum points?
4.How many different hair colours are there?
Thank you very much for your hard work.

Thanks for your interest in the game. Answers below.

1.How many different faces are there?

Over 10 generic faces when editing players, although each individual NRL
player has their own specific face map (meaning the game has several hundred
individual face maps).

2.How many different hairstyles are there?

Over 10.

3.Can the give all the attributes maximum points?

We are still debating whether to allow this.

4.How many different hair colours are there?

A few.

Should you be looking to preorder the game, check out the following links

www.gamesman.co.nz
www.gpstore.com.au

Both stores have good reputations for getting preorders out to people on the
day of release.

Regards

Mario

just my thought mario...

i think for attributes you should have a certain amount of points for each player and can put like some in for speed, that takes away from the total amount... so if you want to make a really good passer, they have to sacrifice maybe speed or something... just a thought :D

I think there should be an option to have stats maxed out. Maybe it could be an unlockable feature once you've beaten the game? Or maybe you could max stats out in friendly games only?

I loved playing practise games in ARL 96 where I played a team that had maxed out stats and the other team had no stats whatsoever.

You could sure make some kick ass plays when it was like that. :D :D

The games needs maximum points for each attribute to be there.

I was really dissapointed with other games that had a cap on them, it annoyed me, if people don't want to have the players at a maximum they don't have to put them at it, but for people like me, who like to create themselves to there true form ;-) need maximum attributes to be available.

my thoughts exactly! if you want to have the attributes all the way up then why should you not be allowed? they let you do it in madden and ive never heard any complaints about that! i too get annoyed when there are attributes restrictions! come one, hes/sidhe, let us have full stats points!

There needs to be maxium points for attributes so as you have the freedom of choice weather you want to dream of being an elite player or making your self just average or ripping off somebody you hate and making them slow and injured easy etc
its about freedom of choice.

There needs to be an unlimited amount of points for attributes. I would probably use it for the opposite reason that most would, I would max up the opposition and see if I could ever beat them.

Exactly, I can't see a single negative about letting players have 100% perfect stats. It gives you the best of both worlds, if you wanted a restriction then you can still restrict yourself.

I wouldn't mind maxed stats in a friendly mode but to win the main competition should be a challenge and having players 100% in everything would take away from that challenge.

i like the idea of having unlimited stats where the higher the stats you use the more it will cost to have him in your team.

I'd prefer to have a cap on points, but then have a training mode
It would work like this

When u develop a player the cap averages out 60% for each attribute, but during season, u have a traing season (between each game) where u can pick one attribute and do a drill on it, if u train hard u could become a superstar

This method is seen in Rocky and Knockout kings

Well then DON'T MAKE YOUR PLAYERS 100%.

What difference does it make?

Because when you can say you won the whole NRL competition i want it to mean something and not have that meaning taken away by somebody who has already won it ages ago but with maxed out players.

Other options could be that you can only have maxed out players on the easier levels or if you do play within the rules and don't use maxed players, it could unlock some extra features.

im a big fan of NOT maxing out players, it makes the game far too easy, and i have notice not matter how hard i try i alway make me 100 if i can..........

i think there should be a point limit depending on position, then if you know your stuff you can allocate your points to suit that position

I.E dont give a prop 100 in general play kickin
then maybe and overall ranking can come from how well you utulized your points, that way if your smart ya can almost make a perfect player and you can customize him the way you want him

Well why not make it an unlockable feature after you've won all the comps? And then in the options menu there is an option to return all stats to default positions?

It would also be good if your team stats change depending on results through the season. This was used in NHL 2001. When you won, with a team on, for example, 60 ability points, it would go up a bit. If you lost the reverse would happen.

Sometimes it stays the same depending on the opponents position, if you beat a crap team you don't improve much and if tey are good, you gain more.

Maxed out stats takes away from the challenge, how are you going to have a half back who can hit up like a prop and make kick return meters like a full back. Maybe for certain positions you can max out certian areas.
