Some random thoughts on Penrith game

* After 2 weeks of uninspiring and theatrical efforts, Beau Ryan played well today.
* After early glimpses of stupidity, so did Lui.
* Robbie does so much for this team.
* Benji played up and down, but his kicking was what it should be.
* Lawrence is strong and fast, isn't he ?
* Penrith have perfected the extra player flopping in the tackle without looking like he just did.
* Mitch played strong.
* Fifita is a machine when he puts his mind to it.
* Englishmen like scoring doubles.
* Poor Dane tried his best to humiliate us. Extra oomph in every tackle. A trademark "Abdullah The Butcher" Axe into the back of our tackled player early in the match. The look on his face when he got pinged for walking off the mark was priceless.
* Gus is a tosser.

A few random thoughts in reply...

* Beau knows he's got Fitzy covered, but Brown might have given him something to think about.
* Lui should have bagged three and we should have cleared 50...
* Benji would be nothing without Robbie.
* Yes, he is... (Lawrence, big and strong)
* Didn't notice the flopping any more or less than usual.
* See above re: Mitch Brown.
* Fifita should have bagged three and we should have cleared 60...
* Ellis got a double and doubled his tally - all in a days work.
* I'm so glad Daine is playing for that other mob. Ellis absolutely exposed him a couple of times this afternoon.
* I like Gus.

- Ryan should be under pressure after that performance by Brown today. Brown runs hard and straight and hits the line with venom. Ryan runs sideways too much for my liking.

- Lui is a liability in defence but his attack is getting better. Robbie and Benji cut him out too much. The opposition obviously target Robbie and Benji and they should shift it to Lui more often, he looks dangerous when running at the line (did this more often today) and his passing is crisp. Also, he has a monster bomb that should be utilised more often.

- Lawrence is class. He and Lote still do not get enough ball IMO.

- Fifita was great today, and offers fantastic impact off the bench. Looked fitter today, played more minutes and did not give away his usual two dumb penalties.

- Ellis is the third best player we've ever bought just behind Prince and Hodgson. Absolute machine.

- Laurie is a liability and looks like he has put on weight. Will never amount to anything - he's 27 so hardly young. Defensively he is still poor, takes an age to get back in the line and easily caught out if at marker.

- It was great to see four props today, even if one of them was Skandalis who offers minimal impact. Hope to see the same side next week, I hope Gibbs is OK. I still don't think Dwyer should be playing prop at all, I know we had Gibbs off injured for a while but he is a waste in the middle of the park.

- If we play like we did today, we can go far in this comp.

- I hope we can smash Parra next week, I'm already fired up for that one.

We are a unique team. Thrilled with the 43-18 win, our best win for a while. Still when you think about it, we still do some really school yard things. Lui dropping the ball over the line, Marshall grubber 30 metres from his own sticks. Marshall again going out on the 1st tackle after a turn over.

You could tell from the first 20 minutes that we were dominating the ground. Glad we actually went on and nailed a side, all be it only in the last 10 minutes. I was worried during those flat spots in the middle of the 2nd half.

I actually thought the marshall grubber was on- if he managed to poke it through the line Lote and Chris were all over with only the full back to beat...I got no problem with us chancing our arm if something is on- that is the tigers. It's only a problem when nothing is on

Is it just me or does Lui look like he's shed a pound or two over the course of the year?

Most pleasing aspect about Fifita's game today was his concentration in the defensive line. Seemed to really focus on the job and defended around the ruck a hell of a lot better than what he has in the past. If he can keep that effort up, in addition to his attacking ability, he'll go a long way. Thank God he had a blinder with the ball too, because Skando was dogsh*t.

Did anyone else notice what a game Liam Fulton played - I thought he had a blinder? He didn't bag any pies, but would have been my pick for MOM. Closely followed by Brown, then Ellis.

How good was it to see Lui run straight & take on the line. Gee look.... he scores.

Farah's kicking was on fire & made a big difference to the scoreboard.

The defense numbered up really well & scrambled better than previous weeks.

My only criticism are that I just wish that in defense, they would learn how to get the man on his back - they seem to be the only team that does not work on this? The quick play the balls, kill them around the ruck. And in attack, in the first half, they seemed to hand off the ball to stationary players? Where did the cohesion go?

Great Peformance, The back 3 did a great job wih Mitch Brown really showing us that he is a 1st grader, Ryan also did well, he attacked the lose ball alot and put his body on the line.

Lui after a couple of first half errors really lifted his game, i would love to see him get a bit more freedom with the ball.

Farahs 40/20 was perfect and change the games momentum.

Benji was quite but atleast he is kicking goals again, even though they werent hard kicks it would do good for his confidence, he has only miss 1 kick over the last 2 weeks.

Ellis is a machine and is the backbone of our forward pack.

Fulton also put in a great performance and I cant wait to see Fafita after a good off season

The real highlight for me was the patience shown by the likes of Ayshford, Brown, Gibbs & Daniella after making breaks. They could have easily gone for the miracle play but these guys chose the right option and have been for some time
