Just finished watching the game on replay and couldnt help noticing two things.

1. Wade McKinnon runs the gaps in attack in nearly every play ... will someone please pass him the ball!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and

2. Our first pass of dummy half, the man receiving is too wide. We need a player running straight almost right next to the dummy half. Newcastle were doing this and making heaps of metres - parra werent.

Comments ?

Good points. Running right next to the dummy half means you do run the risk of being tackled by the markers. You cant do it all game but when the markers became lazy it can be an effective option. One thing I have noticed is that Parra's speed at marker isn't good. Our markers are often caught offside or we are left without two of them meaning dummy halfs and front rowers working of the fringe will have a feild day. One area we definately have to fix up. Lets slow that play the ball down.

As for Wade he is a brillain support player and if we can get some offloads to him it would be great.

Wade may be the decoy man. Fair enough if he gets the ball he will probably beat the first few men in but he wont neccessarily beat the rest of the line. If we can put the deffensive line into two minds with wade running as a decoy it gives us more chance of not being gang tackled and more chance of making line breaks.

as i said it wont work all the time. You have a good chance of getting tackled by the markers and usually on either side of the ruck their will be a front row forward.

Fair enough .. but I watched the knights game closely and we didnt do it once - whereas the Knights did it all the time and with the speed of the play the balls nowadays they made greta metres - all the time.

Actually, lots of teams do it.
And I would have thought it would be the obvious progression for the "big, strong and ugly" theory we have supposedly put into practice.

Parralight,

"Supposedly" being the operative word.
Maybe "Big, strong, ugly and slow" is more appropiate

Mate, I dont know... I thought that Justin Tsoulos and Stapleton ran well but ran the wrong angles... Vella is very fast so I would like him running off the shoulder of the dummy half.. could be very interesting....

You are right Parralight, i noticed the difference between us and then in the first half when freshness was there.
Parra play too cute while the Knights just one of the ruck made super metres in relation to us-simple plays and at no time did our markers stop their hitup player who regularly made 10 metres!
Good point Parralight and Alex is being a bit to cute in his assessments.
