Can someone tell me why the three Sydney teams that joined the rebel league AKA the super league not staying loyal to the ARL are still in existance today

Someone tell me why in 1999 there were 5 foundation clubs still playing first grade and the year after its cut down to one club

Someone tell me why the Bears still aren't in the comp and why they got kicked out in the first place

Someone tell me why scum like Cronulla and Penrith who have both only been in the comp since 1967, one between them during the super league era who continue to struggle to get crowds and borrowing money, betraying the ARL to join the traitor league still live on today

Someone tell me why the NSWRL/ARL/NRL have treated the foundation clubs like crap for 100 years

This is disgraceful. Can we please kick out Cronulla and bring back the Bears?

"Loyal" :lol:

The ARL was totally innocent hey...?

Educate yourself numbnuts, you'll find what happened during the war wasn't just the greed of SL, but the stupidity of the ARL management too.

Having said all that, why ANOTHER SL v ARL thread? It's 12 years since the reunification. Surely people are over it? Maybe we need a sub forum where the whingers can have it out?

 They would still be Manly's bitch, you should be more concerned about how they sold you down the river a long time before SL.

Yet you blame the Sharks for it.

HAHAHAHA!!!!

Because they are (mostly) financially viable and two of the three have won premierships since the war.

Someone tell me why in 1999 there were 5 foundation clubs still playing first grade and the year after its cut down to one club
Part of the reunification agreement to cull it to 14 teams.

Someone tell me why the Bears still aren't in the comp and why they got kicked out in the first place
The Bears ran out of money constructing Bluetongue Central Coast Stadium and trying to pay for the move up there. Manly swallowed them up and spat them out. They are looking to re-enter in 2011-2012.

Someone tell me why scum like Cronulla and Penrith who have both only been in the comp since 1967, one between them during the super league era who continue to struggle to get crowds and borrowing money, betraying the ARL to join the traitor league still live on today
Penrith is easy - one of the most profitable club chains in Australia. Cronulla obviously have managed things well too and Cronulla is a relatively affluent area.

Someone tell me why the NSWRL/ARL/NRL have treated the foundation clubs like crap for 100 years
It's all a conspiracy. For 100 years? You're a f**king idiot.

This is disgraceful. Can we please kick out Cronulla and bring back the Bears?
Gladly.

SL club fans trying to defend it is always amusing...

Why's that? Because they've actually got something else to say other than the tried and tested "greed greed money money greed"?

Ohhh... only one side actually has any knowledge and is allowed to comment, I've got ya.

F**k me this topic is piss-poor, tired and over-argued.

Defend what?

Lets look at it in this light .... Why has nobody ever attacked the people that didn't have the high end scope to see a corperate style takeover coming? If RL was ''killing the pig'' what steps were taken to protect their investment?

Answer = NONE

They were too busy flying thier (Manly and Rooster) mates by private jet around the country rather than pay players what they were worth, and thats just the start of it.

It's all the evil Rupie's and the Cronulla's fault. The Baseball blamed them also.

1. Each team was duly rewarded for joining the dark side during the war. Souths actually finished ahead of Penrith on the criteria, but they were kicked out while Penrith stayed in. Work that one out.

2. On saying that, none of the 5 traditional clubs (Manly weren't a foundation club) were regional teams. Balmain didn't have much longer as a stand-alone entity, Wests were broke and getting a hiding every weekend. That merger made sense in the long run. Norths and Souths were SCREWED (especially Norths, but the whole story is for another thread) and Manly decided to hop into bed with Norths to ensure their short-term survival.

3. Again, too long to explain it all and I can't be bothered doing that here. It is one of THE biggest administrative stuff-ups in the games' history, however, and the fact that the Central Coast Bears aren't getting ready to play their 10th season out of Gosford is an absolute RORT!

4. Cronulla and Penrith chose the right master in 1995. They were duly rewarded with immortality in the new "visionary" 14 team competition. Neither team would probably still exist if they'd stuck with the ARL.

5. Souths had actually been marked down for some time before Superleague. Wests had been kicked out once before anyway (1983). Balmain would have most likely relocated or died anyway. Of course, if all three had marketed themselves better and not run by a "jobs for the boys" mentality (especially Souths) they could still maybe all exist as stand-alone clubs today.

Source? Penrith would've gone through on their Leagues Club fortunes alone.

Agreed. One of the biggest crimes of current RL is having no first game team on the Central Coast fulltime.

:? Again, source? Speculation because you hated SL doesn't count.

It would be nice if a few more ARL-shippers thought this way... realised that a few of the clubs didn't do their darndest to stay afloat and expected the ARL to take care of everything for them... something SL actually could promise to existing clubs.
