Something missing from Grand Final Week

Have heard and read multiple media reports suggesting that the build up to this year's Grand Final has been a little flat.

Is this due to the absence of Bunniesman since Souff$ inevitable capitulation, the issue of most fans hating the two clubs participating or the hype vacuum since the elimination of all Burgii (other than Shayne)from Grand Final day matches....

To be honest, I have more interest in the big boat show at the Harbour than I have in the clash of the original cheque book champs

Thoughts ?

it'll be an awesome game for the fans of the teams in it. I think it'll be a dull game honestly. The meetings of these 2 sides this year have been defence orientated mostly. I really hope Manly come out firing and we get a repeat of 2008 of Manly thrashing melbourne (won't happen) but gee it would be good to see Roosters fans squirm

Defence orientated games don't have to be boring at all - if anything they're classic rugby league games.

Always happens when your team isn't in it. You try and tell yourself that to make you feel better about your team not making it. Next thing you'll be convincing yourself it was a dull grand final and everyone's forgotten the premiership winner.

Go and enjoy your big boat show champ and leave grand final week and the grand final to us real fans who enjoy the spectacle no matter who's playing.

I'd say it's on account of there being absolutely no chance of a feel-good result. That and the fact that both teams playing have f**k all support.

I'm so happy all the "fairytale" teams died in the arse last week so all the dickhead fake RL fans come out of the woodwork

Maybe if one or two of the players actually playing in the game came out and pumped it up a bit, people might get a bit interested?

Earlier this week Watmong tried to get Western Syd on board by describing Manly families paying $1000/week rent as Aussie battlers! What more do you want? :sarcasm:

The Poms are making a big deal out of the prestigious Challenge Cup winner also winning the GF. Maybe a bigger deal should have been allowed to be made from the Roosters chance at becoming the 'undoubted' '13 champions . . . pity we don't have a 'double' worth celebrating

This will be a classig grand final. I cannot remember a side that can score out of nothing like this Chooks side. Nor have I seen many sides who just never give in like Manly. There is class right across the board in both teams. Its probably the best match up of two great teams with great recent success since the 1986 GF. I'm salvating.

The sooks can f*ck off to the boat races, or the VFL international series, or a f*cking egg and spoon race with Aunty Thelma in a push up bra for all I care. Easts and Manly might not be a fairy tale, and neither are anyone's second team. But already it's f*cking all over last years dirge between 2 cheats.

I cant wait. Neither can Hawko and Miranda.

I'm still trying to figure out how The salary cap GF last year wasn't worse to these people bemoaning this years game. That was the original cheque book GF and probably more worthy of the name given the amount of players from both of this years teams who were developed by the clubs.

Record low attendance

Not automatically...some can be brilliant, others are garbage

The first week finals one between these two was a cracker despite the 4-0 score.

That said - the interest isn't great and it's because the media doesn't have a fairytale story to pump. Last year it was Des's first year at the Dogs, '11 it was the Warriors, '10 the Dragons and finally getting the monkey off the back, '09 the Eels flying home from 8th... Get the drift?

Will be an awesome game. If they can keep it within one try the whole game it will be edge if your seat the whole way through. It will only be shitty if one team gets outside a 12 point lead.

Suspense over excitement. Thriller v blockbuster. Both have their places.

My team didn't make the finals this year, but I am enjoying them all the same. As much as you would love to see your own team go around, I find it just as enjoyable to be able to watch a game with no bias to either team.
When watching with "blinkered" eyes you can miss the great footy from both teams and have a tendency to "blame the ref" or see things that really didn't happen if it goes against "your" team.
