Should be no where near an All Black jumper... he is clearly not yet up to international standard... Broken arse mortlock even showed him up

I thought he was okay...he was playing in a side that did not really know each other or have a game plan.

Not sure about his tendancy to offload in the tackle...needs to control this.

Just on ABC Grandstand that. Sonny Bill Williams is eligible to be a Wallaby through an Australian Grandmother, This was a press release from the ARU.

He is also eligible for Samoa as well as the obvious in New Zealand.

So maybe SBW could be a Wallaby very very soon.

He seriously needs to play in the SH if he wants to becime a centre of International class... so far he is a fair way off

the problem is he left RL to become an All Black.... if he plays for the wallabies hes obviously failed.

but thats okay... theres nothing wrong with settling with 2nd best... just ask Robbie Deans...

 yeah Robbie Deans. Don't seem to hear those Cantabrians creaming their pants as if he's the second coming to Jesus Christ anymore. But on $BW, Samoa is his ticket to the 2011 WC.

The ARU are clearly already searching for recruits for the Victorian Super 15 side.

Seriously though, the guy got poleaxed by Burgess. As my mate who I was watching with, who hates league and is a union man through and through, said it clearly showed that he was used to being tackled in league where there is a tendency to focus on the upper body, and the 10 metre rule means you can get a head of steam up before you hit defenders. Going from a dead start at guys who know how to tackle properly and use their leg drive properly made him look quite ordinary.

Also Giteau went around him about 5 times and he completely misread the defencive play.

Teach him how to tackle properly and he could be an alright flanker though.

The mistake is putting him in the backline. He might be able to pass for a centre in league, but in union its a totally different ball game.

Doesnt look fast enough to play centre at a higher level & he struggled reading offensive lines.
I thought he was okay for the baa baa's but he's got alot to improve on.
Im not sure how he would go at Number 8.

Tough position for SBW.

We all know how well he can offload a ball, makes me think whether he could be a running No 8 off the back of a scrum? At #13, he'll need to improve his defense. If he can do that, he would make a very good centre IMO. If he is solid defensively, he's obviously got the offload ability, and in open play he would be tough to stop.

With AB-eligibility rules at the moment, you gotta be playing in NZ to be an All Black. He'll have to earn his stripes in perhaps the 2010 Air NZ Cup, and then the 2011 Super 14, if he's a chance for the 2011 World Cup. Playing for Samoa would be the easiest route to the next World Cup.

Did he leave for the money or the chance to be an AB?

He's easily fast enough to play centre. He's only played 15 games or so. International standard? Not yet but he will be.

He can throw a nice pass and just needs to work on his defence. Outside centre is the hardest defensive position in RU and I felt he would have been better suited at 12.

from: http://www.leaguehq.com.au/news/lhq...turn-to-belmore/2009/06/12/1244664855018.html

Asked about his chances of playing in the 2011 Rugby World Cup, he said: "I think I'm a pretty confident player and I think over the next couple of years, if I stay on the field and I string together a lot of games and keep playing good footy and I keep learning the way I am now, I can. But at this stage, if I was a New Zealand selector, I wouldn't be in a rush to come knock on my door. You just have to look at the All Blacks back line and the players that are left out of the All Blacks team, you know the quality of the players over there is crazy."

yeah... sounds like he would be proud to represent the wallabies...
