sony vegas 8 help

hey...made a short 15 second clip in sony vegas 8 has sound and some video effects...but when i render it as .avi it saves the file as 606mbs!!! wtf is happening here?

This all depends on the video bitrate/resoultion/compression settings you chose.

It sounds like you used uncompressed or raw AVI.

If you use the XVID codec you will get much smaller file size, set the bit rate to match the quality/size you need.

If you have no idea, start with 1500kb/s and see if you are happy with the quality v size and then adjust from there.

* Im not sure on your intended use (DVD, Youtube etc) or if the Vegas 8 supports XVID, but you should at least be able to do MPEG2, set the bit rate to 6mbs and again adjust quality up or down from that result.
