South Qld / Ipswich Jets

There is a separate forum on expansion, so I'll keep this message short and targeted.

IF the South Qld/Ipswich/Western Corridoor expansion bid was to form a link with Newtown, would this be supported by Newtown fans?

Eg if the new team:
- called themselves the 'Jets'
- had a majority blue / white away jersey
- entered a feeder club arrangement with Newtown
- had a Sydney based membership for away games.

Would Newtown fans attend games, buy merchandise etc for the new club or would the link be too spurious?

From a Sydney NRL strength perspective, I wonder if having such an arrangement would give Newtown fans a chance to reengage with the NRL, and ensure the new team does not suffer from such poor away fan numbers like the Titans, Storm, Cowboys.

Thoughts?

Interesting concept!

If the new club embraced the Newtown history just like the South Melbourne Bloods to Sydney Swans then maybe.

AND to reinforce the arrangments if they played one NRL match per year at Henson.

AND of course Newtown would have to remain a feeder in the NSW Cup (as you stated) and play all their home games at Henson. Maybe one Newtown game per year could also be played in QLD before the new club's NRL match.
