Penrith have had the chance to take equal leadership or go close twice now and f**ked it up both times.
Wests seems to struggling against a Manly team that, aside from Goulds prediction that they would be the team most likely, has won only 3 of their past 8 games, two of those wins came against teams already planning a holiday (Sharks and Cowboys) and a one point win over Souths.

Tigers and Penrith have been overachieving for months now. Both clubs have a history of falling into a slump at this stage of the season and missing the finals. That's not choking, it's the norm. Both are still well in contention to make the finals and that should be considered a success given recent seasons. Dragons on the other hand, will still win the minor premiership. Anything other than a grand final appearance will be a choke.

In the modern game, teams will win and teams will lose. The days of unrivalled dominance are over.

Very little divides the teams and whilst Saints have certainly been the most consistent and structured team to date, any person who suggests that a team without a dominant play-maker in 1,6,7, and 9 are specials to win the competition is dreaming (and yes, Soward and Boyd have yet to show individual brilliance to warrant such consideration)

Tigers can't choke. No side at this stage can choke in 2010 except for the Dragons because they're the only side in the comp that has shown some consistency over the season to the point where they deserve favouritism. They lose, they've choked. Any other side loses, it's an off day and fair enough. It's an interesting competition this year. There's nothing separating 2nd from 10th in terms of ability. Any game between teams ranked 2nd and 10th is basically a lottery and all that matters is form on the day. Any of those sides can beat the Dragons on their day though. The Dragons are consistent, sure, but consistency means nothing in elimination finals and the other 9 still in contention are more than capable of beating the Dragons on their day, even if the Dragons play to their absolute potential.
