After sixty years of waiting for a RL player to be nominated we finally achieved that goal when Kevin Sinfield was chosen. After a campaign to motivate the U.K. RL community to vote for Kevin he came second behind media darling Andy Murray who has won nothing of any note in 2015 as an individual. To put things into perspective Sinfield and Murray were streets ahead of the other ten nominees with Sinfield alone polling more than the rest, barring Murray, put together. A great night for RL and Kevin Sinfield.

The Davis Cup team deservedly picked up the Team of the Year award. The bulk of Murray's season involves himself alone. He has won nothing as an individual of any note in 2015.

To be fair, Sinfield didn't win anything alone either.

However the BBC had the Davis Cup so he was always favorite.
Hamilton got no where then the BBC announce they have dropped f1.

Not that I think the BBC is a terrible agenda led propaganda machine or anything... :D

If it was going to be on personality alone then Tyson Fury should have won.
Not saying I agree with his views or that he is the best athlete in the world. But he actually has a personality.

I do not get this...Kevin plays a team sport...he does nothing as an individual at all.

Murray lead his team to a trophy not won be you guys for decades..

Your point is lost on me.

+1. For some reason, they haven't named this award Sportsperson of the Year.

And Murray pretty much won the Davis Cup single-handedly. Of the 12 rubbers won by GB this year, Andy was involved in 11 of them

The point is Sinfield plays as part of a team for 100% of the time. A team that won every domestic trophy possible. Murray plays as an individual about 95% of the time and the team Murray won something with picked up the Team of the Year award unsurprisingly. I'd have gone for Fury on his achievements alone but he shot himself in the foot with the comments he made.

Tyson fury is a grade A bellend though...nowt worse than a jumped up pikey...

Us a oldhamers are really proud of kev we voted enbloc as did the whole RL family, knowing him personally he'll be humble as f**k...as we've heard in his speeches hes nothing without the team around him, never wanting to stand in the glory of his own career...

Hopefully hes having 2nd thoughts about fannying around playing lower grade union and he comes back to the RL family.....cutting his coaching teeth as oldham assistant coach/player...he could eek out another year or two playing for us ;)
